For the first time for as long as I can remember I am struggling planning September trip to Thailand.

- Qantas cheapest but have to fly their A330
- Virgin next cheapest but VA codeshare on SQ could have issue selecting seats
- Singapore cheap flights don't earn miles
- Thai cheap flights don't earn miles
- Cathay relatively cheap flights, earn on Asia Miles, half earn on QFF but no earn on AA

I have even been thinking about Scoot.

You forgot JQ...
You might find it hard with school holidays.

Trains not stopping at Milton. No announcements. Called Translink. No idea. Apparently some trains were made express because people at Milton don't need to go to airport. Walked to Roma St Station in pouring rain without umbrella. Charged $10 when I touched off at Milton. Now sitting in airtrain going nowhere.

And here is where I bite my tongue....

You need to get a twitter account. Sometimes only public shaming makes some companies react.

QF A330 Y is ok, the old J cabin is shocking.
Edit: forgot it's morning flight so even old J is ok (assuming you are counting on WP upgrade ;) ).

Just buy the QF ticket.
Not that simple. Hate what QF did to the SE Asian with the QF A330's and I'd have to go back on my word of boycotting QF due to their move to paid bulkheads.

I may out of spite just book Emirates to BKK on QF website.

I think given the weather, delays are pretty much to be expected and not worth getting stewed up about.
Understand your point but people's lives don't go on hold.

Sorry to advise but due to problems down the line trains won't stop at Milton. Should I have missed my flight ? Or walk 20 minutes in pouring rain?

Poor communication. Poor customer service.

That's not good enough

Don't ever come to London then .. will make Brisbane look like a doddle!

Maybe time to take the blinkers off & see the hardship some Qldrs are going thru today?

Heard of this amazing thing called a taxi. They even have them in London.

No announcement on delays or updates to services and you think I should have stumped up $50-$60 to get a taxi to the airport? And do you think I would have found this taxi?

Let's just ignore that QR Translink has serious customer service issues. Their best line is "We apologise for the inconvenience. " Yeah right.

But we should just sit back and put up with poor customer service because.... Because why? Because we are content with our miserable existence and it doesn't matter if we are screwed left, right and centre?

I'm not ignoring anything about trans link. Something made you walk 20 minutes in the rain. That same thing could have made you get a taxi. And I said nothing about taking that taxi to the airport.

Very good chance there were no taxis available due to the rain.

Possibly, but it was also surprisingly light on Brisbane roads this afternoon. We got to Milton for an appointment in about 10mins from Windsor; last week it would have been closer to 15-20. And getting home from Milton just before 5pm was a doddle. Again, I'd expect much worse around peak hour. Traffic into the city this morning was also normal.

Both my office and Mr Katie's offices were maybe 50% full today, with people taking the opportunity to work from home (as they luckily can in our industry). People staying out of town with the threat of flooding seems to have kept some of the roads quiet today. Compared to the gridlock of trying to get into and out of the CBD on the day before (2 days before?) the CBD flooded in 2011, my experience of today's traffic was a doddle.

One of my team also had a frustrating QRail experience coming in to the office around 9:30. She parked at Albion in case she ended up walking to her car (as has happened in past rail disruptions). She called me as there were no trains coming in to the city from there, all they were hearing from QR was announcements of train cancellations; no information about what services were running. Similar to JohnK's experience this arvo.

Do QR have real time apps?

In Sydney, I use the public version of an app which on many occasions has been very useful for me (both with customer questions & getting myself around).

We're starting to roll out iPads to guards (like pilots would use an EFB) & for real time information exchange. The trial for drivers is about to start. I'm going to try & get on the trial.

Ahh BIG Dell! Had fun one night at, I think it was called The Barracks then, in Paddington. Right after BIG dell punched in the window of a car in a road rage incident. A mate kept having chats with BIG Dell who was enjoying a quiet drink. We kept telling the mate Dell was going to smash him if the mate kept talking to him.
I had a similar night with Wendell and some of the Broncos when I lived at Paddington. Was on a crawl from Caxton Street with my flatmates via every pub on the way home (was in Brigalow Street). Made it to the Paddo Tavern and found him deep in his cup. Was a keen NRL fan back then and he was trying (and mostly failing) to pick up because of his (lack of sobriety) - well, to be fair, none of us were. We left about 2am and he came out with us and he staggered across the road to the nightclub. He was a bad man with whom to drink
