What a rain event yesterday in BNE. I let my staff go at 3pm so she could get home. I left at 4pm. Big mistake. It took me 2.5 hours to get home. My mobile had died and my wife was worried about me. Never seen such flooding on some of the arterial roads - thankfully with clearance and an AWD as there was some water to drive through (not above wheel nuts). But there were a lot of small cars that did the right thing and parked on the verges, not willing to go through the water (unlike the Drivers mentioned in the posts above). Should be interesting to see the levels of creeks this morning. Off to the Bhudda festival at Southbank. Might light an incense stick for getting me home safely

It is a lovely morning here on the Sunshine Coast, clear blue sky, no wind, sun is shining. Such a difference to yesterday ! Gale force winds, driving rain and cold.

It is currently sliding south here in the Hastings (NSW) area. They seem to think it will be past here in around 3hrs. Nowhere near as much rain here as Qld scored

Give them another go / everyone has a bad day? Or is this a pattern? Or was this really bad?

I assume you're talking about the bag drop desk at the T1 VA facility which links to the transfer bus? So what's the deal with train vs taxi?

The train is only quicker than the taxi if either (a) there is crazy road traffic between T1 and T2/T3, and/or (b) the taxi rank is backed up, and/or (c) you don't have to wait the maximum time before the next train (you need to pace it to the train station, grab a ticket, then wait for the train which is either maximum 6 or 9 minutes; with the taxi, you head straight to the rank, unless it is also full).

In any case, assuming you made bag drop at the transfer facility, that means you are also checked in. This means you would have had at least 30 minutes to get to T2 and make your flight. Regardless of the mode of transfer - transfer bus, taxi or train (the last one is more or less guaranteed thanks to no road traffic) - making the flight should have been a piece of cake. At the very worst, if you were on one ticket (and even then, since you are a VA Platinum), you probably would have been easily accommodated on the next flight (hopefully there was one such flight).

It was the bag drop at the domestic terminal. Arrived at the international transfer bag drop 55 minutes before my flight, to be told there is a 60 minute cut off for bag drop at international. The next transfer bus was due to arrive 40 minutes before the domestic flight, information I had to ask for them to provide, so they said get a taxi. I went straight to the train because I didn't want to risk a backed up taxi queue.

At the domestic terminal, arrived here about 30 minutes before my flight, the platinum check in line had a night group, 2 working desks with one person restarting their computer. Standard bag drop line was empty, with at least 2 open positions so I went to that. The next operator looked at me, did a little smile and called someone over from the check in line. As far as I can see she deliberately did that to screw me around, some sort of personal vendetta against customers.

The flight crew were good. Even let me change out of stinky clothes before takeoff while waiting for a couple of delayed pax from Darwin. It was also the last flight of the day, IST-ADL ticket. I do, of course, have 8 currently booked flights with VA.

There is already a Charlotte Diana (Spencer), so whilst my daughter would be rapt with a current Princess named the same...

Going home afte 12 hours is amazing...must have been an easy birth. Drug free??

Wasn't the baby born 3 hours after they arrived? These days safer to be home - esp their home - if all is well. She did the similar timing with George. It's also sad that I know that...
