Recently received call from lovely agent at QF advising KA have now reinstated original J seat so am all set to go with an ounce of luck.
FTR - I am totally aware that if KA substitute aircraft and pax lose J bookings that is not QF fault - but it was the flippant attitude and less than honest response from first 2 QF agents I spoke to.
Here's an odd one: if we were told the same thing by AA for an AA booking, we would just go, "Hang up and try again". In fact, we would usually advise to just cop it quickly and move on just as fast, because any notes on the booking against your favour may preclude you from getting anything you want.
We don't call that frustration tantamount to social and commercial turpitude as would be portrayed here; that's just called normal.
In any case, as has also been exemplified here, when a partner is involved (not the host metal) and it's an award booking, those are the stickiest (nastiest) ones to fix. It's even more frustrating when the partner doesn't adequately update the seating (or load) configuration across the board and basically push the new info without giving the full context onto the partners (yes, I've seen it before, it is nasty).
Anyway, hope you are good to go now. Grab the new e-ticket, check it's confirmed, then print it off.
But back to CX134 next Tue - QF F Lounge opens at 06:15 - is that correct? Any earlier by chance?
According to the Qantas website it opens at 0615h, but the
oneworld website gives 0530h. Maybe someone else should check (if they are passing through the F Lounge).
And any CXers here know what meals they serve on 134 - prolly not a good idea to breakfast in F Lounge then try to put same nose bag on again coupla hours later on board.
This CX134 menu is from last year, taken from a trip report on a blog by another Australian flyer (also on AFF):
Really depends on what you want out of the flight. If you were going for sleep, then maybe breakfast in the F Lounge, skip the onboard one (they aren't too special anyway) and rejoin for the lunch service. Of course, if sleeping with a meal service around you is impossible, you might struggle.
If you have work to do for most of the flight, same as above.
If you would prefer to eat on board, then maybe a light one in the F Lounge (coffee/tea and some fruit, for example) then follow up on board as per normal.
For the most sleep, I would suggest breakfast (or a very light one) in the F Lounge, skip breakfast on board and politely request from the flight attendants to put aside and serve you lunch as late as possible in the flight.
Champagne in the morning is entirely at your discretion!
