How do you manage to get yourself into this situations mate... I still remember your horror stories trying to book TG F last year...
Just stick to SQ Cruiser, the grass is not always greener on the other side :p
I understand it ain't greener - never said it was - but what else do you do with a bucket load of QF pts? Gotta burn em some how.

As for TG - if I can ride TG 380 F again would do it in a heart beat - just security of TG bookings is problem.

But back to CX134 next Tue - QF F Lounge opens at 06:15 - is that correct? Any earlier by chance? And any CXers here know what meals they serve on 134 - prolly not a good idea to breakfast in F Lounge then try to put same nose bag on again coupla hours later on board.

Hope you manage to get to the airport somehow.
Work in progress.

Hired a car. Nudgee Road closed. Kingsford Smith Drive going nowhere.

Flight delayed until 8:00pm but not sure we can get there on time.

Recently received call from lovely agent at QF advising KA have now reinstated original J seat so am all set to go with an ounce of luck.

FTR - I am totally aware that if KA substitute aircraft and pax lose J bookings that is not QF fault - but it was the flippant attitude and less than honest response from first 2 QF agents I spoke to.

Here's an odd one: if we were told the same thing by AA for an AA booking, we would just go, "Hang up and try again". In fact, we would usually advise to just cop it quickly and move on just as fast, because any notes on the booking against your favour may preclude you from getting anything you want.

We don't call that frustration tantamount to social and commercial turpitude as would be portrayed here; that's just called normal.

In any case, as has also been exemplified here, when a partner is involved (not the host metal) and it's an award booking, those are the stickiest (nastiest) ones to fix. It's even more frustrating when the partner doesn't adequately update the seating (or load) configuration across the board and basically push the new info without giving the full context onto the partners (yes, I've seen it before, it is nasty).

Anyway, hope you are good to go now. Grab the new e-ticket, check it's confirmed, then print it off.

But back to CX134 next Tue - QF F Lounge opens at 06:15 - is that correct? Any earlier by chance?

According to the Qantas website it opens at 0615h, but the oneworld website gives 0530h. Maybe someone else should check (if they are passing through the F Lounge).

This CX134 menu is from last year, taken from a trip report on a blog by another Australian flyer (also on AFF):

Really depends on what you want out of the flight. If you were going for sleep, then maybe breakfast in the F Lounge, skip the onboard one (they aren't too special anyway) and rejoin for the lunch service. Of course, if sleeping with a meal service around you is impossible, you might struggle.

If you have work to do for most of the flight, same as above.

If you would prefer to eat on board, then maybe a light one in the F Lounge (coffee/tea and some fruit, for example) then follow up on board as per normal.

For the most sleep, I would suggest breakfast (or a very light one) in the F Lounge, skip breakfast on board and politely request from the flight attendants to put aside and serve you lunch as late as possible in the flight.

Champagne in the morning is entirely at your discretion!

Tks anat - very much appreciated. I understand it's not easy with the QF/CX pship - I have no doubt I am just so spoiled with SQ - but the banks keep chucking CC sign on bonus QF pts at me - not in my make up to drop catch.

As I posted earlier I have SQ F/R rdpt also booked for Tue - will cancel that. I have no idea ATPIT when I will return but I know I will get F/R/F flt with SQ ex PVG/PEK/HKG sometime following week as I am a bit flexible on ret - 'such is life'.

SQ cases are pretty easy though, since they are merely shuffling around their own metal, not a partner.

I've not seen what happens if, say for example, you have a SQ KF booking with Star Alliance partner airlines on it (or, not that anyone would be, but let's be adventurous, Virgin Australia flights on it). If it's anything like dealing with US during their days in the Star Alliance, then that's just courting trouble.

Ah huh - therein lies my problem - SQ too easy / too reliable - think I'll listen to boomy and just stick with SQ - well at least til next time anyway.

And now on Sandgate Road going nowhere.

Are we no shows for the 6:25pm flight? No OLCI.

After my flight in Y back from IST, with constantly delayed EY flights, 2 hour connections, and no discernible priority baggage which lead to a mad rush between sydney terminals via the train. Not to mention the rude cow at the bag drop desk, which will most likely mean good bye VA plat. (Sorry VA transfer desk lady the train is quicker than a taxi). Imagine the response Mr 3E got when he asked if I'd swap from the aisle so he could sit with his wife. Especially as this was the seat map 90 minutes before the flight. If sitting with your wife was so important, why not 9BC; or was he just trying something on?

Give them another go / everyone has a bad day? Or is this a pattern? Or was this really bad?

I assume you're talking about the bag drop desk at the T1 VA facility which links to the transfer bus? So what's the deal with train vs taxi?

The train is only quicker than the taxi if either (a) there is crazy road traffic between T1 and T2/T3, and/or (b) the taxi rank is backed up, and/or (c) you don't have to wait the maximum time before the next train (you need to pace it to the train station, grab a ticket, then wait for the train which is either maximum 6 or 9 minutes; with the taxi, you head straight to the rank, unless it is also full).

In any case, assuming you made bag drop at the transfer facility, that means you are also checked in. This means you would have had at least 30 minutes to get to T2 and make your flight. Regardless of the mode of transfer - transfer bus, taxi or train (the last one is more or less guaranteed thanks to no road traffic) - making the flight should have been a piece of cake. At the very worst, if you were on one ticket (and even then, since you are a VA Platinum), you probably would have been easily accommodated on the next flight (hopefully there was one such flight).

Classic try-on. As he saw and you know, it doesn't work.

Sad to see the rain cause loss of life, flooding and damage again.

I'm angry that the 70 yo driver on the Sunshine Coast ignored the safe option and ended up costing the lives of his pax as well as his own.
There has been a concerted ad campaign to deter people from driving into flooded areas. It didn't work for this guy. So sad.

Is that incident the same as the one at Caboolture where 3 people including a baby died when their car was washed away?

The thing that scares me is that nothing is done to improve the trouble spots. Are we not learning from previous incidents? Are governments scared of taking action?

I cannot believe that such an important intersection on Kingsford Smith Drive was under water again. Road not closed but people waiting for the waters to subside? I am not an expert but can't we do anything to improve that situation?

The car was washed away. After the driver went around a sign directing him not to (afaik)
