The totally off-topic thread

Protests against the election of a conservative government? No, no, no ... nice Mr Howard and even nicer Mr Abbott have never had any of those against them  .

I know right, A protest about the decision of the government is not a protest about the election result. Seems you're getting confused. Of course, since the tories are born to rule how dare anyone question their decisions. No wonder there is such confusion over the reason for a protest when people shouldn't be protesting at all.

Of course the tories in Australia, nor even respondents to this thread, have never ever failed to accept an election result. Never have they, and their supporters, EVER cracked the sads about an election result, and just expected to be handed the Prime ministership when they were incapable of forming government. Never have they ever just opposed everything to the detriment of the country just to get elected. Absolutely ironic to see the first person to throw stones in this thread.

Wanting to undo participation in the EU sounds pretty damn crazy and xenophobic to me. Have they heard of globalisation. Best to ignore that and turn the clock back 30 years.

So wanting laws to be made in Westminster rather than Brussels is xenophobic?

I gather you would be happy if the Australian Parliament abdicated its constitutional responsibility and let an APEC or ASEAN Commission govern us instead?

Not being an EU member doesn't mean not trading with it and being friendly with it.

So you are in to me again medhead.Just cant help yourself.
I have never not accepted an election result.Particularly in 2010 with a minority government. If you can find the thread you will see that within a couple of days of the election I said Julia Gillard would be PM as my local member would accept the Speaker's job.Well he did after a while.
However I do admit to calling out incompetence of a government and their decisions.

Now you have accepted the election of Tony abbott with great magnamity haven't you.
As always-Pot,Kettle,black.

And by the way my initial response to whatmeworry's post was merely a statement of facts.

I didn't know you were Tony Abbott, that is the person I believe deserves your label, your statement of facts. Please do quote anywhere that I've questioned the last election result before you call me a hypocrite. I've certainly questioned the rationality of those that supported that liar. But never the result.

Not sure how being strategic in standings is going to help when you don't have a majority of supporters in any electoral area.

SNP I assume means Scottish national party. The population of Scotland is 7.8% of the UK and there are 59 constituencies in Scotland. Is there any wonder that the vast majority of those went to the party that scots would mostly support?

I also assume ukip is some kind of party for right wing nutters. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, such people can live anywhere. Once the party get all their supporters concentrated in 156 constituencies (56*12/4 to see how I estimated that number) then they'll win more than one seat.

There is much bewilderment as far as this ex-pat Scot is concerned regarding the overwhelming support for Shrek and Fiona (SNP).
I'm not one for much political commentary but I will say this -
I'm glad I don't live there anymore :(

IMO if Sturgeon played it low key and ceased the hero rhetoric the result could have been very different. Her strutting was the conduit for the critical balance to vote for sensible stability.

Labour looks to be absolutely buggered without Scottish seats.

Sorry. It is off to the naughty corner with me.Back to the safety of TRs.

Seems crazy that is the case for politics, but not for something like this which is akin to politics https://www.australianfrequentflyer...n-australian-dollar-37875-83.html#post1243975

No that is a perfectly rational discussion of economics and philosophies which of course means no 2 people will have the same opinion so we all keep Morris dancing.

Bundy Bear we watched both the Dockers and the Eagles play live in AFL on UK Sky TV.
Frankly some of the camera work was pretty ordinary but the results of the games were really good.
