So council/roads have put a new sign on my nature strip without consultation!
Bike lane end! Just so happens there is an existing pole for bus stop.... I plan on ringing council to have it removed or placed on existing pole.
Anyone had this issue before fixed?

It gets even worse.

Depending on which Council area you live in then the bus poles/platforms/shelters can be the property of media/equipment consortiums (like Veolia). So the Council gives the rights to maintain all the equipment for x years to the company and the company has the right to put up advertising etc along with the poles/shelters etc.

In our area there was a big bun fight as the companies sell 'media packages' which include a % of prime locations, mediocre and poor locations. The bus stops amongst the shops = prime, main roads = prime etc.

Well a school bus stop is not prime (wasn't then but is changing now as mobile phone companies ike that location). So a certain liquor company bought a 'package' and had something like 4 primary schools and 2 secondary school sites with the giant posters encouraging drinking their whiskey.

Took 3 or 4 weeks until they removed them. Council claimed it could not intervene.

just like the DEMTEL ads - BUT wait there's more...

Nearly 8 years ago the State Govt cut some bus routes from the area and amazingly enough there were bus stops no longer serviced/used.

Were they removed? No.

Do people go and sit at them waiting for a bus to come? Yes.

Took some years before the old bus timetable panels were removed despite frequent requests from the public.

Are the adverts changed regularly? Yes.

Are the shelters cleaned regularly? Yes.

A contract is a contract apparently.

Contact your local councillor. I find they can generally get things sorted quickly.

The old fridge kicked the bucket yesterday :( New one delivered, up and running producing sparkling water via the inbuilt Soda Stream ... the kids should be happy when they realise what it can do.

Life can be so cruel at times. That's another failure. 2/2 now. Gets harder with each passing each day.

They might work out how to spike the system to make other fizzy drinks, too...

Reminds me of the time the fridge in the holiday rental place I have, died ... in the middle of summer, with a full house :( . Manager called me in the morning and said, quite truthfully, that I needed to replace the fridge .. NOW!

Hooked up the trailer and drove to Harvey Norman. Went to the appliances section, found the one that suited (large, twin door, half freezer etc etc) and said I'd take it. Sales guy said sure, they'll order one in for me (this is Hobart, after all). No, I said, I'll take it. This one. Now. The guy's head swivelled round like something out of a horror movie!

So he got a trolley and onto the trailer it went and I drove the 3.5 hrs to the rental place and had it installed before the punters got back from the beach. :)

We have a dead fridge as well. Technically speaking it's not dead but the ice/water dispenser is not repairable after the fridge broke down due to the big storm and power outage in NTL in April.
Westpac insurance have been a shocker, finally came up with an offer last week to replace the fridge with a specific model from their supplier JB Hi-Fi. I never knew they sold fridges? Plus the model they want to replace it with is slightly larger and will be a very tight fit into the existing space. The alternative is gift vouchers apparently which will be useless as JB Hi-Fi where we live don't sell fridges.
I'm stalling for now as its winter and I don't need the ice/water thing and I'm trying to get the fridge I want.
Insured for 15+ years and never made a claim

Princess, JB Kotara near bunnings sell fridges if that helps

AAdvantage phone desk USA still can't handle Australian credit cards without tricks. Wish they would bring that part of US into their system.

Will have to resort to calling AA Australia...

Certainly not the first time I have heard of people having problems with the ice/water dispensing fridges after power spikes/blackouts. Maybe not a common problem but it is not a feature I will be having in a fridge

We have had the fridge ice/water running trouble free for nearly 10 years. I really like them. Especially for the kids as they drink much more water as a result of it being chilled and easy to pour.

Channel 7 Sunrise just had a segment on pointy end flying using FF points. The cat's out of the bag on crediting QF points to AA and using them through AA redemptions. Kochie has also picked up on the huge difference in taxes paid between QF & AA redemptions. So surprised were Kochie and Sam with this revelation, they're doing another segment on it tomorrow.

Wouldn't really say the cat is out of the bag. A similar article ran some time ago (7 years ago maybe?) and either made reference to, or quoted Dave Noble (that gives an idea of how long ago it was). Move along nothing to see here ........

Keep Kochie down the back!!! :)

Given the poor earn rate of the average QF flight when crediting to AA, its going to take the average australian just as long to earn enough points for an award and the availability issue isnt going to change. Yes the taxes will be lower but now they have to deal with AAs complex routing rules.
