If she had a Priority Pass membership for any reason, there are eligible lounges at both T1 and T2 of AUH. Maybe there might be one of those lounges which you could pay to get in anyway without any memberships. If she's not with a credit card, maybe she'll have a fistful of cash she can convert to local currency or USD (whatever the lounge accepts). Might be worth her time.

As for the dying phone, consider acquiring a battery pack. Some can be a bit big, but others you can get are the size of a credit card (although the latter will probably give you at best another 4 hours of power, unless you really stretch it).

The debrief when she gets back will be interesting

EDIT: Which terminal and class of service is she flying back from? Some of the terminals of AUH have pay-in lounges, but they appear to need payment in AED.

There are also special sleeping pods in Terminal 3.

I've had my fair share of sleeping in airports, which aren't lounges, hotels or designated sleeping areas.

Does she do camping? Staying in a hotel less than 3 stars doesn't count.
