The totally off-topic thread

To bring it back off-topic...... dusting off my legs and cycling into town today, all part of an annual event that is now held here: Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle | Guided Rides

If you don't hear from me again, assume the worst!

Hopefully with lots of roads being closed it will make for a pleasant journey. Will be nice cycling around London's sights without cars too.

OK, my olives have soaked nicely and are now kinda sweet (thanks to JohnK and others for advice).

Now what do I do with them? Never got this far before ... put them in some sort of oil in a jar? Does jar need to be sterile, and then covered? (ie like you are making jam). I'd like to keep them for maybe 6 months.

Next year we are going to Japan for cherry blossom time.Hard to get hotels in some of the smaller Japanese cities. We are going to visit Hirosaki and nothing suitable available but on booking.com got a place reasonably close.Ever since they send me emails about hotels being available in Hirosaki with 8 other areas with a link.Still only a very cheap Japanese hotel with only single rooms.Over the last week one of the other 8 areas has been interesting. The first time it was Adelaide, the second Geelong and today Coober Pedy.
Does anyone know if JR has a direct rail service to Hirosaki from there?;)

John, my wife and I went through 9. I do understand how you feel. Our first 6 failed IIRC
I know. It's just sad to go through all that and then fail.

P.S. Laws in Thailand are being tightened up severely which is going to make it even harder now.

A family member has a slightly inappropriate message when I look at their name on my Skype. They can't see it themselves, and I can't copy and paste it to them. Anyone know how to proceed with them getting it off there?

Perhaps the message is only seen by me as it was only meant for me. A bit perplexing.

It's not enough that they keep parking huge milk truck in front our place but today they have called a mobile wash truck and washing the milk truck with milk crates all over the place. Enough is enough. I got really angry.

Can you build a driveway with a fence there?

Fell of my chair laughing!

"This has obviously been a very difficult day for Bronwyn Bishop…I think we should respect the fact that its been a very difficult day for her," he said.

Still don't understand why the AFP is not chasing her for making false declarations on government forms!

She falls on her sword, unsurprisingly

Yeah, poor Bronwyn.

Get a couple of witches cones and place them on the road.

Actually, I think 'hoisted by his (her in this case) own petard' is a more apt phrase. Your phrase is far too generous;) and implies some responsibility and dignity, which, in this case, is severely lacking in many of the players.

with acknowledgement to Wikipedia

"For 'tis the sport to have the enginer
Hoist with his own petar'; and 't shall go hard
But I will delve one yard below their mines
And blow them at the moon: O, 'tis most sweet,
When in one line two crafts directly meet."
