Postponed this morning's dental appointment due their EFTPOS terminals being down - no cards, no health fund access…no appointment then: "No I don't happen to have $700 cash on me…"

Shouldn't they have done the work and then billed you afterwards (if their systems weren't working)?

Tooth saved was paid on Qantas Credit Union CC for a point per dollar to QF. That specialist dentist has kids at private school so he has a vacuum cleaner in his pockets until that journey ends.

For those old enough AND with a memory...

Do you remember how dentists used to price 'procedures' during the late 70s and 80s?

TFTTQ ring a bell with anyone?

Trip For Two To Queensland - including 5 nights accommodation.

For those too young to be reading this blog, prior to some attempt at competition, airfares from even Sydney to the Gold Coast were multiples of what you pay today. As a proportion of the median weekly wage (or price of a Commodore) they are a fraction of what they used to be.

It was cheaper (for example) in 1989 for me to fly from Sydney to Auckland, stay in a 4 star hotel for two nights, then fly Auckland to Perth rtn, stay two more nights in Auckland in a 4 star hotel, then back to Sydney - than the cheapest possible SYDPER return ticket. Plus you got two weekends away for free, four duty free allowances and better quality seating & meals.

I noticed that the dentist's prices charged always seem to increase at the same time as Q's fare/package prices.

Maaate. That's what the word 'Mate' was invented for.

Is that why my boss calls me "Darling "?
i mean really is BB that hard to remember LOL.

(I dont mind being called darling. We are an affectionate / kissy office)

Modeled on the SBS series no doubt!

"Masters of ...."

Who knew science was so practical.

I had a dentist in Sydney who's idea of soothing chit-chat while he dug around in my mouth was to tell me about his latest exploits in his helicopter  .

I think I am going senile.

I forgot someone's name at their own event. In my defence I have only met them a few times, but I think I'm losing the little grey cells.
I lose lots of little grey cells every week. Just hope I have enough little grey cells leftover to teach the new little grey cells what they know.

Not happening penegal is my opinion. Let's get CE and others out to dinner at Olive Tree to discuss this and more during the footy finals.

Sounds like a plan cove!!!

You'd think so, wouldn't you?
Apparently not, even though the practice shares its name with the (our) health fund and credit union beside which it is situated, in the c.u.'s new headquarters building.

Are they actually affiliated? I'd be writing to the fund/union, and if not affiliated, to the practice principle.

How old are you again; you can't be older than me, maybe you need to do a few more cross words; read the paper; or do some exercise to keep fit, to keep alert.

I've heard that as you get older (and grumpier), you may share a few more cross words. However, to keep the mind agile, I've rather heard it beneficial to complete some crosswords ;)

So I'm currently on live connected as mobile provider.... Rang Boost on my phone to enquire about getting family member to them. Boost help number is seen as premium number not included in cap. No info on boost website to say this may be the case.
I discovered this when bill came with $20 extra for 9 min call. Currently rang Boost, Boost complaints (Telstra), ACCC, media Ombudsman and need to ring telecommunications Ombudsman on Monday.... There is a rule potentially broken... Told so far.

I just received an order of USD in cash via my bank. I've checked the money and I've noticed:
  • The bills are crisp and appear quite new, or at least have been minimally handled
  • Some clusters of bills have sequential serial numbers
Did a quick check of authenticity and the bills appear to be genuine. Should I be concerned?

I would suggest that banks would receive notes direct from the US treasury or their own bulk store so sequential numbering is to be expected.

  • We have definitely had that the last few times we got US currency from our bank - all crisp brand new notes. Just watch out when spending them that two don't stick together

Flew TMW-SYD this afternoon after doing a relo mission. Plenty of people heading down for the Bledisloe and also the City2Surf. I had to knock on the QF lounge door and get another person to let us in - apparently the door has a PIN code :) It was nice to be in the country for a few days.
