I still have my S3 about 3 years later. Still going alright; has been reflashed with a different ROM, though.

Apparently the S3 are still going like workhorses. Unsure why, to be honest, and moreover why isn't their end of life days coming a lot faster than it should, especially somewhat compared to its successors.

Still hunting for the next phone. Not keen on Samsung; I've been recommended to consider Xiaomi. If there's a really good dual SIM phone I'd like to see it.

Because the upgrades these days are marginal. If all you're using the phone for is basic things like simple app use, mail, browsing, WhatsApp, calls etc. then there's really no need for anything new IMHO.

Problem is though that the way Android is going (along with most apps), it's getting more memory hungry. This means less that you can open before you start getting crashes, and the garbage collector / app manager isn't necessarily good at killing older suspended apps, and some have a persistent marker on them so they can't really be closed anyway.

S3 only has 1 GB of RAM (at least the common GT-i9300).

Are there complex things as well one needs to consider?

Just received a quote/itinerary for flights ADL-ICN return with Cathay for a work trip. $2200 in Y! Pretty late notice, and I can find something with better return timings on the Qantas website for about $1800. Does it really cost $400 in TA "taxes', Still, I'm not paying so will just suck it up.
<snip>

As people may recall, I have a tremendous TA; does my client's bookings for me and my own personal ones.

Recently I asked them to book me a personal trans Canada return in a middling whY fare class on AC (just enough for me to upgrade). It came to 20% more than the fare I saw on the web. When she got back to me, she pointed this out saying 'they are undercutting us again' and suggested I should book myself on the web, which I did. This attitude is one of the reasons I stick with them, and refer others to them.

Even when my client is paying, I get the TA to price several options looking for the best result both for me and the client (client is always happy with QF price in J TPAC, as a reference).

Goes to show:

* If you have the right TA and build a relationship, they will look after you (I appreciate medhead's TA is the company's, not his own);

* There can be reasons for differences in fares between a TA and the web beyond TA 'taxes', even when looking at the same airline and same flights.

Just generally on TAs (and not relating to medhead's experience), what a TA will quote will depend on what's requested. If just asked for a fare 'a to b in economy' they'll try and guess what the many options are most important (schedule, departure time, route, fare, flexibility, alliance preference) and quote accordingly. There may be cheaper options.

When I ask my TA to quote an itinerary which isn't straightforward, I usually ask for three numbers:

* Cheapest on the day and cabin wanted for departure;

* Most convenient flights (ie not very early departure time and not long connections);

* Specific airline, depending where I'm going.

Depends. I don't find I need anything overly complex on mine and I'm usually a 'power user'. I think being a 'power user' helps, in that you can work 'smarter' on an 'older' phone e.g. I'm still happily using a HTC OneX+.

Those elections are changing.For the first time there are Opposition candidates in every seat.
The share of the vote for the Government has slowly fallen from 90% to 60% in the last election.One day they might even lose an election.

On the face of it, yesterday's election was the most hotly contested one. The result showed 83 of 89 seats won by Lee's ruling party. There you go...

It could be a all WA AFL grand final,

West Coast beat Hawthorn 96-64 and today
Fremantle beat Sydney 69-60.

And I didn't get to the game. :(

Or it could mean no Fremantle in the grand final. It does get harder to breathe each week and one could easily choke if not careful.

Fremantle are pro at that :mrgreen: :lol:

oi, x 15
oi, actually starts the song TNT by ACDC that Fremantle play after their own team song, after they win their games because they know there team song is so cough.

The West Coast Eagles, We're flying high is so much better.

Can we please gave a footy thread to give these addicts somewhere to share their pains and stop these addicted OPs filling the TOT thread with OT football? ;)
And a golf thread? But there aren't any pains this time. Best golf trip in 3 years.

And all the thanks might have to go to Bushnell this time.
