ACCC says otherwise...

They say otherwise, i.e. manufacturers or vendors should be responsible for the reasonable lifetime of the device and not just some stated warranty.

That means you may have recourse but it doesn't mean it will happen fast nor without some pressure on your part and responsibility.

If you have time on your hands and not in any immediate need of your device, you can always give it a go. Hell, going back to the original vendor and giving it a whack may work too, as almost any store - except for Harvey Norman - is usually filled with people who couldn't care too much about stock management that will probably give you a resolution straight out, including a new device or credit to a new one. That's why when people kept breaking their iPhone screens for whatever reason, you could go to Apple and simply get a new one, irrespective of age or even if it was your stupidity that caused the fault.

I think with Virgin the warranty is only 1 year. I did not take up extended warranty.

We are wirh Virgin - 2 years is the warranty on the 'phone itself (battery is 1 year). .. BTW, it's a Samsung warranty not Virgin's.

http://www.samsung.com/au/support/warranty/

SWMBO's GS4 just had it's main PC board replaced under said warranty - got that one in January 2014.

Samsung even arrange for courier pick up and return.

(Side bonus- SWMBO stopped b¡tching about her GS4 after two weeks back on a GS2.)

My Mum got Shingles after surviving Bowel Cancer.

I read that shingles can be a pointer to more serious conditions.

Here is a Dr question. My immune system seems super primed. Never had the usual illnesses as a kid, even when siblings did (back in the days when measles/mumps/chicken pox thrived without immunisations). Developed an auto immune illness when in my twenties, and my antibodies to my thyroid were way past the lab measuring standards. So does this mean my immune system is very aggressive to bugs also?

So am I the only Victorian working as normal? Public Holiday for the GF = RUBBISH!

So many small businesses in Victoria today with another nail in their lids - Cruiserette was supposed to be meeting 3 girlfriends for lunch at one of their favourite small restaurants - said restaurant cannot afford the 2 x wages for staff so are closed for the day - CLOSED the day before GF - UFB!

We just have to work as the rest of Australia is also working.

I'm sort of working, but can get stuff shipped out as there is no postal service today...

I'm not sure that this is true. I think that most people simply choose to ignore the reports.

There are many more reports we don't get to hear because these days there are so many they restrict the news to mass shootings. I think over 5? Or unless an Aussie is involved.

"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2013 firearms (excluding BB and pellet guns) caused 84,258 nonfatal injuries (26.65 per 100,000 U.S. citizens) [SUP][2][/SUP] and 11,208 deaths by homicide (3.5 per 100,000),[SUP][3][/SUP] 21,175 by suicide with a firearm,[SUP][4][/SUP] 505 deaths due to accidental discharge of a firearm,[SUP][4][/SUP] and 281 deaths due to firearms with "undetermined intent"[SUP][5][/SUP] for a total of 33,169 deaths related to firearms (excluding firearm deaths due to legal intervention). 1.3% of all deaths in the country were related to firearms.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][6]"

No need to worry about terrorists in the LOTFAP, they kill themselves more than adequately.[/SUP]

That backwards logic of the NRA, that the only way to stop bad people with guns is to have more good people with guns...how do they continue to peddle such cough!

When you have a lobby whose power is tantamount to an iron collar around the neck of Congress, you can say whatever the hell you want and everyone else just as to suck it, as it were.

I wonder what would happen if a gun massacre happened within an NRA meeting?

The irony would be lost.

Given that silly logic by the NRA, the obvious question is, where were these good people with guns during these massacres? Although I guess that buys into their argument.

Never mind how you define good vs bad, why not suggest that even bad people don't have guns?

Generally the carrier and the handset manufacturer provide a warranty. For post-paid plans, the carrier will normally warrant it for the length of the plan.

I think that the only way some of these brutes would even think of changing would be if they experienced a personal loss involving a gun. But then they would probably just say, well if I had a gun handy I could have stopped it.

Gun Shop Owner: Sorry, the law requires a five-day waiting period. We've got to run a background check.
Homer: Five days? But I'm mad now!
...The owner finally pulls the gun away from Homer.
Homer: I'd kill you if I had my gun!

In this case 24 months each for the handset ... I wonder about the battery ...

And now big brother deems we need a Doctors script to buy codeine and the like. I noted they said you couldnt buy opiates OTC in UAE. Mmm, you can buy many things OTC in Dubai with no questions asked, including the proper Sudafed. The one that works.

Didn't some Aus woman get arrested in Greece many years ago for having Codral (codeine) in her luggage? I have vague memories of that.

Since when? If true that's sad for someone who suffers from chronic pain.
