Start enjoying shorter checkin queues anywhere on OW (with the possible exception of BA), bonus FF points (where applicable) and the ability to pre-select seats online on international QF flights. And maybe extra luggage (I don't know if this is a silver benefit)

If only it was QF! It's DJ, but now that I hear that VA is starting to think about new York it makes me happier.

Looks like I might keep silver this year after all after a year or so with little travel in the last 6 weeks I have done-

SYD-BNE

FRA-LHR
LHR-SYD
SYD-ABX

I haven't even thought about the points,the SYD-LHR and LHR-SYD were all QF PE and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received.
I just wish QF would get rid of the Dash 8's on the Albury-Sydney run.

The first best thing about any status is usually priority check-in. That's what I liked most when I got QF PS.

Now be a good boy and update your profile. No one wants to think of you any longer as the one that just missed the mark.

So now I'm thinking of all these ways to justify gold, but then again I'm always trying to justify another step up...

It's a cruel race, this status thing is. :mrgreen:


I hope the 1% that do care include Mrs thegurio (and maybe the kids). That could make status chasing a bit more palatable, esp. if DJ link up loyalty benefits with say VA, VX and VS.

I just wish QF would get rid of the Dash 8's on the Albury-Sydney run.

That ain't gonna happen soon.

Just wish you had the Q400s on the route - they are better than the lower series.

To get back off topic this is the first time I have heard about a warthog strike-
"An Air Zimbabwe Xian MA-60, flight UM-239 from Harare to Bulawayo (Zimbabwe) with 34 passengers, struck a warthog during the takeoff run at Harare at 19:15L (17:15Z) in night conditions, veered off the runway and came to rest with one main gear strut collapsed. No inuries occured, the aircraft received substantial damage. The passengers were evacuated.

The airline said, that the aircraft hit a warthog forcing emergency braking while the aircraft was taxiing on the runway.

Zimbabwe's Transport Ministry said, that the airplane collided with five warthogs leading to the gear collapsing, the nose, an engine and one wing receiving substantial damages."
