Yes, saw that and also that Bill Wyman has been diagnosed with prostate cancer though apparently caught early.Falling like veritable flies, though I must admit George Martin was 90 so a good innings as they say.

I've got an LG washer/condenser dryer combo.
very good. No issues. 7kg version and 6 years old now. Not one hiccough. The wet clothes go through a condenser dryer process:

The drum is heated and the moist air condenses by spraying small amounts of water around a chamber and the condensed water is drained. No ducting required - just a standard laundry drain

The amount of energy used to create the heat is less because the only exhaust is the condensed water plus water spray. The rest of the heat stays inside the drum. Laundry stays dry without the moist steamy air a standard dryer blows into room (if not ducted). Whereas a standard heater dryer exhausts the moisture plus hot air carrying it wasting the energy in the heated air

The he heat pump version is more energy efficient as it gains the heat through a heat pump - sort of like a little reverse cycle air con extracting heat from outside and pumping it into the drum

Happy with LG. used every second night at midnight with delayed start to use off peak power. In the morning clothes dry.

Next one will be a heat pump version

I discovered 8 years ago that it was much better getting rid of the lawns so I didn't have to buy another mower.

I know of a family which filled their backyard pool so they wouldn't need to keep it clean.

I haven't heard it a lot, but would it be a superficial idea - for those who do not like mowing the grass - to rip up the current lawn and replace it with either a synthetic or very low rate growth grass?

The only thing with synthetic is that it is not great for drainage, and probably not for animals either. It probably also looks mostly unusual and potentially unattractive. Finally, in all of that there is a great cost.

Parents have two properties in Perth now with synthetic, looks fine and not really all that expensive.

I'll send SWMBO down with our spare mower, for some reason she gets a real kick out of cutting grass and would happily spend all day pushing or riding on one!

I think she's weird, I wouldn't have grass if I had my way. When I was younger it was my job to cut the grass, we had a corner block and the nature strips were huge, can't say that I have ever enjoyed mowing since then.

Mrs Flashback also loves it. Suits me.... We use an electric Flymo, works well. Well, not we. She does. ;)

We just installed some fake grass today. Previously had gravel, so this definitely looks nicer. The space is much more usable too. I think it looks good - but you would hope so seeing as it is only day 1!

Maybe call it "faux" grass,... sounds more highbrow than fake grass or astroturf ;-)
