Daylight saving time ends in about 3 weeks. Seems overdue. Look to getting an extra hour sleep time on 03 April.

Western Australia remains free of daylight saving. Our Perth office opens earlier to cope with the time changes in parts of the eastern states.

Ahh yes, the 10pm sunset ...

... but no wonder you are looking forward to it with ~3pm sunsets in Winter ...

The standard you walk past is the standard you accept. Gov David Hurley

Jessica - I thought that this quote was attributed to retired Gen. David Morrison - current Australian of the year. I could be wrong though!

Wasn't aware Rupert had connection with AN:

Unfortunately extremely big connection and at the worst possible times.

News Corp was going through some hard times and was hemorrhaging cash like there was no tomorrow. The 'strike-breaking' of Fleet Street had pretty much used up much of their cash reserves/hollow logs and so mastheads started getting revalued upwards and all sorts of 'creative accounting'.

So when Ansett needed capital to upgrade its fleet and lounges etc - Rupert said no repeatedly.

The rest is history.

A little simplified version of a much longer (sadder) story. I regret not keeping all those boarding passes as Ansett was my domestic airline of choice and flew probably 2 to 3x as much as Q. They were much more obliging in pushing me onto earlier flights back from Melb (despite booked on cheapest tickets going).

Sniff, sniff.

Interesting test for everyone's memory (and do not post their names):

  • How many different domestic Australian Airlines, that you've flown on, can you name and what years did they operate?
I was surprised just how many there were through the late 80s to 2000 - one stash of boarding passes not discovered during previous clean-outs.

Strong wind today here at work.. parked the work truck next to my car and as I got out the wind caught the door and smacked into my 3 month old bmw.

Now to find someone to fix it!

My wife signed us up for this last week, which turned out to be a not unpleasant way to start a Saturday. Something for those of you - if any - who like a bit of a fitness quest.

There are similar things in other major cities so we might try the Albert Park version next month. Or not.

I'll admit I was sceptical at first. She has a tendency to sign us up to these things without asking me first, or organising me to pick something or other up that she's found on Gumtree. It can be draining.

But this one was ok.

She sounds like a project manager / organiser. I bet she's very useful person to have around. ;)
