Re: Best QF Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I think I am in denial how serious it was or could have been. It was just a small lump and my shoulder just feels like a muscle strain. So I am just grumpy at all the inconveniences. I don't have a primary illness, was going to the gym, no flights in last month so it was really out of the blue.
Lucky MrP is WP.

Lucky he is WP??!! I am sure he is lucky because he's still got you. I'm just happy it got detected in time. Health trumps it all...

Thats sweet.

The Terms and Conditions of a ticket do not give a police officer any right whatsoever to demand identification.

But it is a federal offence to travel under a false name. Although unless the police had reasonable belief that there was someone of interest they probably didn't have a right to be checking ID

I agree that arguing is ridiculous - "they are just trying to do their job".

But legally, what power do they have to require provision of ID? Under what law?

The Terms and Conditions of a ticket do not give a police officer any right whatsoever to demand identification.

If an officer of power does not have the power to demand something of you by specific letter of the law, but they ask for it anyway, are you within your rights to refuse and reasonably expect your continuing your current activity without impediment?

I can see officers just bringing up any old excuse (e.g. identity theft check, possible suspicion of person of interest) to coerce you into complying. One may find refusal is not worth the effort of reaffirming your rights in such a case, especially if you're genuinely not a criminal.

Really bad luck! And hopefully will never happen again! But yes it could have been serious, so listen to the nasty doctors!

Ps Maybe a comp will happen - fingers crossed :)

Are left-hand drive motor vehicles for private use allowed to be used in Australia?

Am not sure about other states, but I think not in Qld. I recollect some exception for old / collectors vehicles, but that would I suspect include a stack of permits, etc.

BTW, why do you ask?

Observed a dual-control vehicle this morning but that was a council truck. Driver sat on the left. Just the thought of private LHS cars.

A friend had a 57 Chev and a Mustang both from USA. Left hand drive and drove them both in Sydney.

I also think if you have a car that was manufactured without seat belts then you don't need to install seat belts. Drove in the 1963 EH many times. Not sure if that law has changed.
