I had a good day today away from work - I (successfully) made some Hot Cross Buns for the first time

I cut some wood to fuel my oven for Mondays guests,
and then tonight I gathered some seasonal field mushrooms for breakfast

To top it off, a wine I was expecting to tip down the sink turned out to be beautiful- Life is good :)

Ah I understand now. You put Magic mushroomes in you HCBs! Enjoy.
There was a book and theory many years ago that I remember.

Althrough, those in the photo are not amanita phalloides.

Very nice Steady. Yummo!

Tonight I am drinking cosmos and now sparkling out of a martini/coughtail style glass. These were handmade and given to my Dad and which I inherited as his only child who regularly enjoys a drop. I must say, the glass really adds to the experience.

Whilst others are a working this weekend, I have run away to the Victorian Alps ... And loving it!

Good food, good wine and especially - good friends.

I knew you would say that! What took you so long.

Sob story. This bloody clot has impacted on my neck and shoulder and it hurts to shake it properly. Feel bad now 

Poor lovey - drink it with ice cubes then
Agree, a coughtail glass makes all the difference.

And why it took so long for me to see the ice cubes? I was cooking dinner.

Do you get field mushrooms in other states? I love one feed of them a year - the ones we get here are pretty strong flavoured

They all look yummy! Your HCBs look fantastic!
When I was a young girl and we lived on the farm, we had special mushroom patches that we would go to each autumn. Nothing like a fresh mushie with butter on toast.

Thanks everyone - I am pretty proud of how they turned out.

the mushrooms here are disappearing as more farmers top dress and work their pastures (crop) but I'm lucky my neighbor has one paddock that reliably produces every year

But if they were, then some success has eventuated through the use of Silibinin...
Silibinin, also known as silybin, is the major active constituent of silymarin, a standardized extract of the milk thistle seeds, containing a mixture of flavonolignans consisting of silibinin, isosilibinin, silicristin, silidianin and others.

I'm trying to recover-ish here, so didn't go anywhere for the Easter long weekend.

Pulled two all-nighters in the last week to get two assignments in. By the end of my 4.00pm-7.30pm class on Thursday, the instructor could clearly see I was ready to throw it in for the day.

Still had a bunch of forms to fill out today for old work, so not exactly all a bludge. And no drinking.

We have a week off before classes start up again. We've been told to make the most of the break, i.e. rest but also start all our other assignments due in quick smart fashion after the vacation. Apparently once we start practicum, it'll be go go go for a long while.

Memory is failing since it was Amanita muscaria. But I'd suggest maybe you always carry some when in country areas just in case!

That's a shame. I've made a concerted effort to not work over this long weekend - main reason for that though is my next 2 trips upcoming (NYC & SFO) I don't have anyone I trust to cover me so will end up having to work on those ones so this is my 'real holiday' until I skip off to South America later in the year for some proper R&R.

I don't have any friends or family, so don't have anything better to do once I cancelled my trip to Japan.

Thank you TheRealTMA. Unfortunately none in MEL up for dinner or drinks this weekend :(

Serves me right for cancelling my trip... Thankfully the cellar needs reduction.
