The totally off-topic thread

It's on Wotif - and the photos make it look not too bad. Oh dear, some poor unsuspecting tourist will end up there.

On TripAdvisor it looks pretty marginal, I'd avoid even without the other article.

I think TA and other credible review sites have done a lot of good. They're not perfect but the odd planted or malicious review generally stands out and poor service or quality gets highlighted.

//OFF TOPIC AGAIN

I see a few closed threads today with one common theme :D

Sheesh... I know I am notorious for writing some pretty long passages, but at least I do my best to structure it properly.

Reading what was there was incoherent, circuitous and, in some cases, contradictory, with little acknowledgement of any presented argument. There's some good ingredients for offering a headache.

LOL. Just bought a new fridge from Harvey Norman and David Jones Amex knocked it back as coming from source known for such fraudulent charges.

I suppose one should be thankful that they are pro-active. They did phone me to notify me within 5 mins of the charge.

You know that you dont actually buy anything from Harvey Norman. The floor space is let out to franchisees. Your credit card probably charged by some unusual merchant name

May well be that there are different companies operating under the umbrella and through various salespersons but our TAX invoices and Amex transactions always show "HARVEY NORMAN ELECTRIC EVERTON PAR AU"

Finally found scores on Adelaidenow. Clearly no one edits their work as they had SA batting twice in the same innings.

We've had a neighbour's tree crash through our fence into our backyard (taking out the fence at the same time of course). I'm getting mixed reports of who is responsible. Some of the articles/forums I've read say that unless you can prove negligence on their side, then because it fell into your property you're responsible and need to claim off your own insurance. Common sense to me would have said it came from their property so they need to pay/claim.

Wondering if anyone else has had experience of this?

I think you claim on your Insurance and they then counter claim on your behalf on the third party's insurance. Like as in a car accident.

There are some Harvey Norman owned stores but the bulk are all franchised out by department.

The tax invoice you receive may well say HN ... but if you look closely most will have an asterisk or footnote and say "XYZ PTY LTD trading as HN Electronics dept" or some such thing.

Can make life more interesting if seeking a large refund unfortunately. ALWAYS use a good cc NEVER cash.
