The totally off-topic thread

You weren't there last time I visited!!!

Mr Flowers keeps asking me to visit also, so I should pop over to London soon.

Perhaps my memory is rusty but I recalled you chaps were only there for a short number of hours and I was meanwhile at work, doing, you know .. work ;)

It had to happen sometime I suppose. After seven years here I'm going to put someone on my ignore list.
Can feel my sanity restored already.......

Breathing normally now.
Ha! I read that thread yesterday and thought Whisky Tango Foxtrot. Needless to say I didn't bother looking again.

Some threads created can be ignored. Insertion into existing and popular threads is a different issue. But problem solvered as they say here in SA.

Groan. This function doesn't work when an ignored person is quoted by someone else. Please stop quoting LONG, CONFUSING, REPETITIVE, CIRCULAR, ANNOYING, POORLY WORDED posts. Any other adjectives?

Another holiday over. They go so quickly....

Since I've retired from teaching, every day is a holiday, although I've come to a conclusion I never thought was possible: I now hate school holidays with a vengeance!!

I can retire and not worry about school holidays.

By the way it's the thought of working with inconsiderate morons who are seated less than a metre from you on work days.

Next holiday in 66 days and I am counting. The only thing that keeps me sane.

Who here condones abuse of workers?

I don't subscribe to it, but some would argue that this is simply capitalism.

There is always a large sentiment around that says that if you do not like your job, then you can walk away from it.

Now had the employer kept these people against their own will (e.g. equivalent to imprisonment or preventing them from leaving), then that's different because that would be deprivation of liberty and essentially slavery. But as long as they had the option to walk away, then not.

Again, I don't believe this sentiment at all and these Fijians were hard done by. But if you want the "ugly" truth from the other side of the argument, there it is.

I now hate school holidays because hotel tariffs go up, airfares go up, seat availability shrinks, shopping malls are crowded. But then there are many days that are not school holidays and now being self-employed, I can choose when I want to work and for how long. If it gets too much, I take a tax deductible holiday overseas.
