Doesn't look pretty. Replacement boat services available?

From my memory there are no airport hotels or accommodation nearby. A 30 km drive into Newcastle if you are a stranded traveller.

The Australian reports evidence of two payments made by Channel 9 to the organiser of the abduction. Are they not the offenders here? But will never be subject to the legal system in Lebanon. Can others be tried in 'default'?

I have absolutely no sympathy for the 9 film crew and presenter over there. Note the upbeat reports coming from the jail along the lines of: "We are being looked after well." Like hell. I bet being in a Lebanese jail is marginally worse than Devil's Island off the coast of Venezuela. This is a case of Channel 9 trying to manufacture a story and coming out of it looking like white knights. Now they look like ***t. The crew should have objected to the whole scheme before leaving Australia. I bet management would have backed down if they had.

Now,now leave Venezuela alone.French Guiana is still the country that Devil's island is part of.

True, but Venezuela makes headlines today for all the wrong reasons. And anyway French Guiana is a postage stamp, and they put Steve McQueen on Devils' Island In Papillon.

Bugger. The All Ords is down 34 points and it's only 10:20. All of last week's gains will be wiped out if this continues.

No, there is a hotel on site now, Mercure I think.... Just booked tickets for boss from NTL to BNE this Friday, hope all cleared up by then.

If the crew had objected another crew would've been found and the original crew would be looking for a new job.

SMH this morning:

Qantas shares have plunged after the airline and its low-cost spin-off, Jetstar, said it was cutting back planned flights on domestic routes in response to reduced demand from Australians worried about the economy and the upcoming election.

Qantas shares tumbled 9.5 per cent to be at $3.68 on 11am AEST.
The airline said it had revised plans to increase seat capacity in April, May and June because customers were flying less.

Qantas shares dipped on news it will be cutting back flights.
"Some softness in demand, related to the upcoming federal election and a recent drop in consumer confidence in Australia, began to emerge over the peak Easter and school holiday period in late March and continued to be seen in forward bookings," Qantas said in an update to stock exchange.

Sometimes you have to stand up for what is right. They all knew that what they were doing was legally wrong and that they were manufacturing news rather than reporting it. They were taking the gamble that it would come off and that Channel 9 would be smelling like roses. I bet they would not have been sacked - wrongful dismissal etc. I have been in the position when I was working where I have stood up to a superior who wanted me to do something that was not right. I stuck to my guns and came out of it OK. I one instance I even got fast tracked for promotion which eventuated soon after.

Contemplating taking my girl to Winton for the Film Festival. Has anyone been?

Did I ever say our office backs on to a massage parlour that doesn't do therapeutic massages? Well, guess it depends on the therapy ;)

We see all the 'behind house' cleaning processes.

Nothing to do high airfares and high fuel surcharges on "free" award tickets?
