I wonder why she was chosen "at random", if not to take a closer look at the "muscles". Not acceptable really.
Didn't hear the conversation last night in BNE security but some US lady was loudly protesting with the security on how she was chosen and how the process was flawed as it was not random? He was then laughing about it with one of his colleagues. Not a good look.

I get chosen EVERY time at BNE. Probably because I take it slow to pick up all our stuff, as Ron always closes it down and has to be wanded and felt up because of his knee. So I get to put the computer back in it bag, put the two rollons down, etc and by that time the guy with the explosives test is always waiting for me :(

It always happens at MCY too, and I am by myself there and I don't have a computer - just a hand bag and rollon !

You need to time your departure from the conveyor belt better...

Mrs C gets "wanded" every time we depart AU; gender of the wander variable, wandee has a metal plate, so perhaps that's a reason for follow up.

Sometimes its impossible. If there is just me and MrP retrieving our gear and the guy is waiting, I take one for the team. For some reason this wand thing really presses MrP's button.

Well I wasn't expecting that with my morning coffee! :)

Is she practicing for when she can't get a job with her degrees?

She is currently working full time at one of the wineries. (a year off study - and to save some money for next year's expenses)
She was down in MEL seeing professors about starting her Doctorate next year.
Pole is her "sport". There are 2 kinds of pole - sport & erotica.

I think I would fail at either of the pole events. She must be incredibly fit.

I tried it once for a bit of fun. It's really hard! Though I have a much better core strength these days so I'd probably be better at it now....

I hate it. Pick someone else. The only time I get chosen is when I want to be chosen.

Makes no difference how I time leaving the belt at MCY.I know I am going to be wanded because of my knee and then I will get the explosives test.So always arrive.early.
But it is swings and roundabouts. If flying VA I know one of the checkin agents.if I want an exit row it is mine.

I don't understand why there is even a problem with this, so it takes a couple of extra minutes, in 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of cases it will have no effect on you catching your flight or not, so you may miss a bit of extra time in the in the lounge, it's not the end of the world, is it?

I smile, do what they ask and I'm on my way, I'm certainly not going to let it ruin my day.

To be quite honest there are more important issues with airport security and I'm more concerned about things like this:

Malaysian immigration officers sacked for deliberately disabling passport controls at airport - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Not everyone shares your enthusiasm. Some reasons:
  • Some people hold that this is all a categorical waste of time and effort, i.e. the "security circus"
  • Why should you be targeted and not someone else? Is it truly a random process? Yes, it matters, I don't want to be made out to be a victim... or a suspect...
  • There is always the 0.000000001% risk that if you get selected, something may go wrong and it may result in bad consequences, which are no fault of your own. For example, one time I was selected and I got a positive reading; it took two more samples until they realised that their machine was broken (reporting false positives). Luckily my officer had his head screwed on and tried another known working machine, rather than presuming I was actually carrying a bomb or what not. Net result - about eight minutes consumed.
  • We live in a fast paced society. If I don't have to spend an extra two minutes, why should I?
  • To add to the last point, for those who have seen the movie Up In The Air, if we should go so far as to save time by selecting the correct security screening line, why shouldn't we be even savvier and save extra time missing the check (provided one hasn't been pre-emptively targeted)?

I know this was discussed a while ago, but I have only just tried the new Arnott's BBQ shapes.

They. Are. Awful.

That is all.

Seasoning coverage? Change in the seasoning mix?

I haven't eaten Arnott's Shapes for such a long time.....

I ordered two pizzas from Dominos recently... the $5 "Value Pizza" range.

Absolute tripe (can't use the "s" word here). Minimally covered in toppings - including cheese - lacked flavour and lame crust. The $6.50 Woolworths baked-in-store pizza tasted at least 10 times better than the effort, and that's saying something.

I wrote into Dominos with a rather trite complaint. They asked me if the store I bought from had followed up with me. When I answered in the negative (because I didn't hear a peep out of them), I was offered a voucher for a free 2 pizzas, garlic bread and soft drink combination. This one allows ordering better pizzas than the $5 range, but all said and done, one finds some difficulty in complaining about something they got for free.......

Yep, I know of a builder that had issues flying back to Canberra from Brisbane due to the fact that he used an explosive driven tool in his normal work and this caused the machine to register a positive result, a couple of minutes later, maybe 10 it was all sorted and he was on his way.

Two minutes extra, or even eight, sorry I think the safety of an aircraft and all it's passengers is way more important than the fact you may be slightly inconvenienced. I find it very hard to believe that anybody could think that two to eight minutes is going to be a life or death cause in this sort of situation.
A QF flight out of Singapore that I was on a few years ago was delayed because as the Captain announced over the P.A. the last passenger to board thought that the restrictions on fluids didn't apply to her and was arguing with the security people as she was due to board. Rules are made for everyone, doesn't matter if you think they don't apply to you or not.

If the security check actually checked security then it would be ok. But it wouldn't take much for someone who wanted to avoid it, to avoid it.
