I have a love-hate relationship with hotels.

I got rather grumpy when my room key repeatedly didn't work (it was a problem with the system and a technician needed to come to the room to repair it).

Anyhow, I left the hotel to go and eat, then come back to this. Nice touch, but I literally just ate, and I told the staff member I was going out to eat.... So what am I going to do with a cheese plate? Get even fatter?

Maybe the person drinking from the 2nd wine glass is hungry? ;)

In Kimba SA had I not been driving slowly would have T boned the car who was suppose to be giving way near this bird. A local attraction.

The Big Galah at Kimba South Australia, which is the almost the half way point across Australia.

I haven't seen it in real life a but a few of my friends have taken photos in front of it.

Not sure if anyone heard that Fremantle Dockers finally won a game, this weekend they play Brisbane, so I need to decide who to support.

Interesting phone call including the following two statements (demands)
"Don't tell me how to manage my group!"
"How do you want me to deal with that situation?"

Umm, you just told me not to tell you how to manage your group.

That sounds like a bad indecisive manager who wants a bob each way.

In my experience imaginary friends don't actually eat or drink anything... But you never know :p

That is annoying, firstly the key card doesn't work so they try resolve the issue but not in the best way.

Some days it feels like you are losing and you can't get an even break.

I have wondered whether hotels know whether people are staying at their hotel for business or pleasure, wine and cheese can be good if you are on holiday but completely useless if you have to get up early the next day to get to work.

Bad phone call all around. They basically wanted to do that directing thing at me. They probably got a bit confused when I pushed back. The conversion started in email - "these things need to be done to address concerns raised". I replied asking for the specific concerns in writing. the phone call was then to verbally tell me the concerns and to state that they can't possibly be put in writing. That was the starting point to a lecture on good governance.
Hello! refusing to be transparent isn't good governance.

not the first time that raising issues with them has been addressed by phone calls = ignore the issue and brush it aside.

Agree and as a PM, for me everything is "paper trail, paper trail, paper trail". If there are any "phone only" conversations I have, I'll always follow it up with an e-mail confirming because you just never know when you're going to need to rely on that ;)

I note you have no complaints about the wine ... ;)

It's funny. Because shortly after the phone call I went looking for a 4 year old email where they refused to provide certain information to me; information about something that I've apparently been responsible for managing all these years.
can I find that email? No!

SWMBO's personal trainer used to be a professional gamer. He took in like $40000 in the last 6 months before deciding to have a lifestyle change. The way this week is going it sounds like a viable option. and it's only Tuesday.
Might be hard to get the kids to stop streaming music so I can get a decent ping speed.

Depends on how much and what kinds of games you play. That has to be some major streaming or something else the kids are doing to have a major impact on your ping. It could also be your connection...
