Rogerkambah so sad , just found out your predicament the fight you have in front of you and the journey one has ahead, to travel & reach the conclusion which we all hope is the very best cancer free state.

Best wishes and health, rogerkambah. Makes the problems I think I have right now seem ridiculously trivial.

Sorry Bundy even that doesn't budge them.Remember JFK.Every President since with the exception of LBJ has been the subject of an assassination plot.Ronald Reagan in the 80s wounded.
A long list of congressmen injured or killed-the last a shooting in 2011.

Interesting how Obama's attempts on his life gets a separate article. Surely his predecessors could boast a list of similar length. Seems it's not that easy to be the president.

To be precise on what Bundy Bear said, he said it would take the loss of their family to get action, not necessarily the person themselves.

However, I'm not entirely convinced either that such would be convincing, irrespective of the stance on guns of the person who lost their family.

Car insurance:

1. So if the insurer asks if you have made a claim in the last 4 years and your renewal is June 2016 but your accident was February 2012......is that within 4 years?
2. These days you type in your rego for car description.
If this does not match your car(less model, same brand) does the RTA have the wrong details on the car?
3. Who do you have car insured with and why?

1) 4 years and 4 months is outside four years. Should be fine imho.
2) Yes, seems to be the case, maybe check on your registration invoice from previous payment.
3) Allianz, no particular reason, was convenient at time of purchase. Price seems fair from what ive seen since.

4) re: 1) Honesty is often cheaper, but facts are facts, so 4 years from June 2016 is June 2012. 4 Years is 4 years from date of conversation.
Cheers, D

Now,now. If you are going to get picky you should get it right.

I can't see the US changing the gun laws until a president or law makers family gets killed in a mass shooting, very sad

The or makes a big difference.
So now can I apply for membership of the grammar police?:p;)

I would fail the entrance exam though.:(

My car is insured with Affinity in a deal with Four Wheel Drive Vic. slightly higher price of other insurance products, except this one covers me anywhere on or off-road. Considering some of the places I go, worth it IMHO.

Don't sign up for the academy just yet. :p

Actually, it's just a figment of our slightly confusing language, but would be too difficult to express otherwise.

In programming sense, it would be easier to be precise.

That is, given the phrase
...a president or law makers family...
...could be interpreted as (A PRESIDENT) OR (LAW MAKERS FAMILY), or ((A PRESIDENT) OR (LAW MAKERS)) FAMILY

You took the first interpretation; I took the second.

It doesn't probably change the conclusion we both came to, i.e. neither of those kinds of incidents would push along a major shake-up for gun control in the USA.

Sad news about the kidney. Sorry to hear.

Yeah, that logic thing makes it no more clear. The second interpretation is hard to support given the lack of "s" on president. But given there have already been a few President's knocked over and nothing happened the first interpretation doesn't really fit reality. BUT...

All of you need to spend much time in the grammar thread - law maker's

Well given that the grammar was not perfect to start with, I was thinking that with no 's on "president", the second interpretation is still plausible. Many people would, in spoken word, erroneously convey the second interpretation also without denoting the ownership properly on the first (or any except the ultimate) nouns.

It still doesn't really change the conclusion.

Remember the Reagan shooting and how White House Press Secretary James Brady was hit in the head by the first bullet.

NRA managed to head-off a concerted push back then, today now a VERY influential lobby group has been targeted - it may become a more even contest.

Either that or a certain TV channel will be screening "Red Dawn" repeatedly once again.

rogerkambah, whilst it is relieving to finally have a diagnosis, that's not what you were probably expecting. No doubt your GP and oncologist will discuss a treatment plan with you and you'll discuss with family.

Now about that wine cellar - seems no good reason to stop drinking now (although you may have a lack of desire for alcohol if you start chemo - my uncle advised a similar outcome on the weekend).

My thoughts are with you and your family. I really hate cancer

Have just discovered a rather disturbing nexus. For some months after dinner have been subject to feeling like I have a very mild fever, accompanied by a negligible temp rise and a florid complexion, even after only minimal wine consumption.

Now believe that this is caused by even very small amounts of alcohol, as little as 20 ml of scotch or less than 1 glass of wine. Don't know what the underlying cause is but this is tragedy considering my large and full wine fridges.

Will have to see if my doc can tweak whatever is wrong on return to Oz.

So I'm on a very dry holiday - not happy. :(

Seems we may now have an answer to what has been causing my lack of body temperature control.

Since returning home have now had lots of blood tests chest xray and CT scans, which have concluded on Friday with reports describing

'a mass measuring 16.6cm long by 10cm transverse by 7.5 cm replacing almost the entire right kidney, with a presence of speckled calcification within the mass suggesting renal cell malignancy.'

"Three pulmonary nodules as described are most likely metastatic.'

Looks like I could have an interesting time ahead.

I guess the lesson is that if you report to your GP, as I did that, you don't feel as well as you think you ought, and nothing is done, then its time to change your GP, so If you have, or know of anyone exhibiting mild chronic symptoms get them to see a doc and have tests until a cause is found and resolution is initiated.

Interestingly my blood test results have (for the last 4 years) a comment saying.

'An eGFR between 60-89 ml/min/1.73m2 (mine was) does not exclude the presence of chronic kidney disease. Follow-up may be indicated. Refer to Kidney Health Australia | Kidney Health Australia'

I am officially the laziest person on the planet.

(Doesn't help that I am sick currently )

Very sorry to hear about the kidney. My thoughts are with you.

A good reminder for some of us to go and get checked... If I am ever in one city long enough to book and attend a doctors appointment (plus all the follow ups).

A friend of mine had a similar experience. She lost appetite and any desire for alcohol during (and post) treatment.

She has lost about 20kgs and now needs an subtitles new wardrobe.

She is still with us for now, but I do worry about her a lot.
