The totally off-topic thread

I'm pretty sure that you have to get at least 5% of the vote to get paid. But you probably saved the taxpayer about $2! 

Some of us vote for the independent 1 and then the person we really want at number 2 to ensure they don't get the cash.

Is there a general Qantas gift voucher thread. I think Qantas have made some significant changes in how the vouchers are processed. Still waiting for over $500 of residuals to issue almost 36 hours later, it used to be within 30 minutes.

Glad I save myself some money. ;)
I actually changed my Reps ballot because I wasn't sure if they got paid on first preference or 2 party preferred. In the end I decided to give my initial number 2 the $, he's a nice bloke. I was a bit worried when the AEC official told me it was ok to cross out and write a new number as long as my intention was clear. Had to double check with another person.

This is the first time I've thought about the money they might get in making my vote.

You might need to ring. We didnt receive any email advising the reissued voucher. But it was in the system.

I will keep trying but as you say it is not easy. Feels totally weird to be drinking a glass of water after an extremely frustrating round of golf.

From what I recall you've lost quite a bit of weight already. It's when the loss plateaus that it can become frustrating. I admire you for still ploughing on. I admit I am totally lazy and can't even shift 1kg!

I did one on the 23rd as well. It took a while to get the residual. I mentioned the new ticket being issued in a separate thread. Of the 3 gift vouchers redeemed in the last week, 2 have had a change to the ticket number so far. I've received one residual voucher much later than normal and obviously still waiting for the 2 residuals from over the weekend.

I reckon Qantas have enhanced gift vouchers. This sort of processing mess is negative. Hard enough to track them now let alone having delays.

I thought last week was very cold in Sydney and Brisbane.

This week is even worse. I am freezing. Brrrr....

Some Discovery channel doco I watched a few years ago made the point that the french version was based on a different route that required considerably more work. Besides the significant problems with tropical disease that was also presented as a reason for the french failure. The USA apparently took an easier route. So solved 2 problems.
I am not sure about a different route but the French ran into engineering problems they couldn't overcome (or would be too expensive). In the end the route still required the removal of a mountain range!

It is fine to change your vote "as long as the elector's intention is clear". I used to work casually* on election days and it was interesting to see how some people marked their papers. But on the whole, their intention was clear, so the votes were valid.

If you are not sure if it is obvious how you have voted, just go back and ask for another paper.

*That is, as a part time employee - (before the peanut gallery chimes in). :)

First for me today, landed on the East/West runway at Canberra coming in over Kowen Forest on a commercial flight (Qantas Link), have used that runway a few times in a light aircraft, but never on a scheduled flight.

I had lots of alcohol everyday I was overseas but I only realised this trip that I don't really eat a lot except for ice cream. To only put on ~2 kgs was a huge bonus.

Now back to losing weight. Need to stick to my diet as it's still working. Feel hungry a lot but that's only a short term issue. They key for me is I usually have only had ~700-800 calories by dinner time. A big dinner of ~400gm lamb chops and 2 potatoes fried only takes me to ~1800 calories for the day at worst. Most times ~1500 calories for the day where the weight loss occurs.

Johnny get off the chops - lamb fillets or back strap or leg steaks - much less fat - swap to denuded cuts and even better still.

Other good options are a small piece of steak eye fillet, or the little pork fillets. Both a pretty lean and low cal.

You're telling a Greek that has grown up in Australia to give up lamb chops? No way. The cheaper the better with as much fat as possible. :p Can't remember the number of times we have fought at home so my parents didn't trim the fat off my share of the lamb chops. The only time fat gets trimmed is when it falls off the chop or gets cut off accidentally. ;)

My thin doctor wants me to remove all visible fat from meat I eat. It's been that way since a Tim Tam found its way into my arteries around 22 years ago.
