Another bit of useless trivia.

I am now my fathers age when I was half this age. Why is that on my mind?

and so your father is now 1.5x your age (or the age is was when you were half his age)

I think I was half my father's age for about 3 months. No chance of being 2/3rds his age.

Great, its blowing a gale, hubby away, and there is a bush fire about 1km away heading in my direction.
Fire & police everywhere, spent the last hour checking neighbours, getting animal cages ready & laying out hoses, moving anything flammable away from the house.
Looks like they may have it under control, as I can't see the glow over the hill anymore.
Leaving outside lights on tonight, so my house can be seen from the roadway, should it flare up again.

Stay safe...

Where are you located???

I am 2/3 of my dads age right now. Will be that way until February.

International tribunal in The Hague rules for Philippines in case against China:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/12/philippines-wins-south-china-sea-case-against-china

The tribunal concluded that there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the ‘nine-dash line’

Will mean nothing - China consider they own it and will carry on. Just like they do in regards to anything Japan as well.

The world has gone mad.

I asked a young girl who works for me if she spent more time on Pokemon Go or Tinder this week.

Her response: "Pokemon Go, but they are kinda the same really - you've just gotta catch them all"

TG465 aborts landing at MEL yesterday due to wind.

Lightly snowing in Canberra with a dusting over Black Mountain and Mt Ainslie. Not settling on the ground at our place but children have snow in the suburbs. Chilly!

Yep, pokemon go is pretty sad IMHO.

News from home is that the youngest caught a pokemon in our backyard. Considering that wifi is the limit of her mobile internet access the game is probably pretty limited for her. At 12 I don't think she's on tinder yet.

So your Dad is about 75?

His dad is 3 times his age when JohnK was born. So if he was 25 when JohnK was born, then yes.

At risk of being sent to the maths thread. The only time a parent can be twice the age of their child is when the child reaches the age of the parent when the child was born.

If the age of the father when child is born is X. Then the child is 0 years old when father is X. When the child becomes X age then the father is X+X, i.e. child half the age of father. When the child gets to X+X then the father is X+X+X years old.

It was snowing at my place when I left for work this morning - and it has just started at work. Not enough to settle at this stage but you never know

Obviously not working in Darwin then.

It's 30 C and [surprisginly] humid

So last winter it snowed in Burnie for the first time in ~ 36 years and it is snowing there again this year?

A colleague of mine that lives at Stirling SA showed me a photo of the snow man his kids built yesterday, that's how much snow there was. +1 tells me there was a bit of snow falling at our place yesterday, in the gully below Mt. Lofty.

It wasn't snowing in "Burnie" as I drove through this morning - it may have been snowing there sometime in the last few hours though. But to answer your question, yes it is the second year that there has been some snow down below 100m in this area.
