Missile selfie: Did this Aussie pilot just take the best 'Top Gun' photo ever?

A Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) pilot has managed to capture the exact moment he fired a high-tech missile in a perfectly timed coughpit selfie.

Flight Lieutenant Todd 'Woody' Woodford took the spectacular picture inside his EA-18G Growler during a live fire exercise off the Californian coast.

Saw that, I was wondering what missile he was firing being as it's a Growler.

It's an AGM-88 HARM missile from the text.

Is there a source for this?

Sorry, lazy webs, but I have a social science teacher who is quite interested. Paywall OK.

It's an ABC story and the link is in the heading.

A sad day as I'm off to LST tomorrow for a funeral on Saturday.

Great guy but had a lot of health issues in recent times.

Former Army pilot who had a Masters in Aviation Management and was completing or had recently completed a PHD in Aviation Management. Has been into pretty much everything in the aviation industry outside of airlines. Currently has 5 aircraft under contract with UNSW for pilot training and was working on a huge contract with a pacific island government for infrastructure and SAR.

I'm pretty good with these things but this one is knocking me a bit.

Yep - just wave you paywave card (Basically all Amex and most Oz Visa and Mastercards). Citi Plus Debit or 28° would be cheapest. No pre registration required

Of such would cut into service provider profits ... who owns Kamco again?

[edit]
oops ... poor timing ...

Commiserations Bill.

A week of one kick in the teeth after the next. Bloody ATO and Centrelink have joined in now. Some more tough choices ahead.

As there has been some interest in radioactive waste around here, just a quick note to say that my professional society have just announced a one day technical symposium on radioactive waste as part of the national conference. arpsconference.com.au if anyone is interested.

I haven't cleared this with AFF or anything, no financial benefit in it for me and its a not for profit society. Sorry if there is a problem

A AGM-88 HARM missile - air to surface anti radar missile.

Just love delays. First of 9 flights delayed ~35 minutes and counting. Lucky I had ~2h30m in BKK. Miss that flight and kiss the other 7 flights goodbye.

What did your 2.5 hours in BKK get whittled down to eventually?

Do you live near Kettering in Tasmania?

We landed ~30 minutes late then taxied, stopped, taxied again and then waited to disembark and my 2 bags were out ~50 minutes after landing. Rushed back upstairs and checked in and had ~30 minutes in lounge before boarding.

Tested theory in KUL again with almost 3 hour transit. Arrived ~15 minute late and took over an hour to get through immigration. I was first out and running. Wouldn't want to be at back of economy. Checked in and more wait at outbound immigration and in lounge ~1 hour from departure.

Arrived in SIN on time but then took 15 minutes to get out as no one at gate to handle aerobridge. And only $20 Changi dollars as flight origin in KUL. Fun fun fun tomorrow as luggage only checked through to CGK so even though ~4 hour transit I will try to use transfer counter to transfer luggage back to KUL. Then another transit in KUL tomorrow night.

Lucky I intentionally left lot of time between transits otherwise I was in trouble. My original plan wouod have been doomed.

Just had a request help from a private business from someone who I've been informally helping a little bit. Gave them a general answer, and that I'd have to do a more detailed reply as a consultant. But it was an interesting sciencey problem, so by the time they responded I was able to give them a better answer.
I guess if they want a formal report I'll charge for then.

I waited in the outbound immigration queue at KLIA for 50 minutes before being processed.

Malaysia is a fast developing country and there is much for the country to celebrate. However their propensity for patronage politics keep holding back what can be a dynamic Asian "Tiger". The final queue to get out of the country is a symptom of the brakes on the country.
