I thought you had a "not calling it a screwdriver" policy.
What was I thinking? Blame samh004 for teaching me the term in the first place. Back to calling them "vodka and orange"....

I was working today, but just saw it on the news; very funny! Would have been the 2nd time this season he got out for 99 if it happened. :p

I can't keep my eyes open. I knew 3 hours transit in TPE was going to be way too long after waking up at 4:30am in HKG and this will be my 9th flight in 2 days. And when I finally get to BKK at 10:20pm I then have another 90 minute taxi trip. Hopefully up at 9:00am for a well deserved game of golf....

And then you can say status run complete

Almost. I have 4 more flights Saturday/Sunday but that should be much easier. I hope.

I think someone on here mentioned they were doing 4-5 days of these status runs  and I have a fair idea how many flights serfty does when he goes to the USA for 3-4 days. I am sure they cope well but for me it is very draining....

As I posted, bubbles, bubbles, bubbles (with discretion of course). I do tend to let my hair down a bit on the last segment of the day/trip to a known port.

Other than that it is sleep management - I endeavor to get at least 6 hours per 24. If that means skipping a feed/service in getting a 45 minute power nap on the next 1¼ hour flight, so be it.

Also, build up the sleep bank starting two days before departure.

Catch up on sleep; how can anyone do that before a trip; you are busy trying to fit in everything you need to do before your trip let alone trying to squeeze in a few more hours.

Now some times you can get some sleep when you are away but don't count on it; usually that cuts into good drinking time, or some times you want to save money and sleep at the airport.

Good motto to have: you can always sleep when you get home.

Of course! And every one is different.

Actually, it's also a case of acclimatising. However, for myself, living in SE Australia, say I am heading to the USA on a Friday. My normal sleep pattern is to retire around 11:30pm and awaken around 6:30am.

In the evenings leading up to travel I endeavour to retire:
  • Tuesday Evening 11:00pm arise 6am
  • Wednesday Evening 10:00pm, arise 5am
  • Thursday Evening 9:00pm, arise 5am (Do you final packing then)
  • Friday with ~3pm departure, treat lunch as dinner, enjoy the catering on the flight and watch a movie for three hours (max) and then spend the next 8-9 hours endeavouring to get at least 6 hours sleep ready for the final two hours or so of the flight.
The earlier am rises are desirable, otherwise it is often difficult to get to sleep relatively early.

I find them a bit draining as well - on my last trip I found myself snoozing in the air a lot, which helped. I'm sure the gin didn't hurt, either. ;)

Damn I hate that Murphy fella. The one day I decide to casually get up and get ready, and work from home; and a major event happens at one of my clients! D'oh! Better get moving
