Only tough part is she'll have to part with her little dog. Not so good.
Very sad for both of them :(. We have already decided not to have any more dogs when ours die, as we are getting too old and don't want to have to make that choice - or leave orphaned pets. We will just have to make do with grandpuppies.

House is now officially under offer, and we have identified a probable new place for mum. It's not in the least bit glamorous but it will certainly do the job. Only tough part is she'll have to part with her little dog. Not so good.

Oh, does she really need to part with her dog right now? Can't something be worked out?

I have given up trying to second guess our market based on overseas - it is just totally random :(. I am up 1% today, but was slightly down yesterday. I love the stock market but it has become a bit of a casino!

Only important if you are a day trader?

It won't be quite right now. We have about seven weeks. But given the financial mess they were in, and what we need to do to get them sorted, the budget left over for a new place doesn't leave many options.
And finding anything that takes pets is almost impossible.

She's hoping my up till now useless brother will follow through on a previous promise to take the dog in. Would be the best of the small bunch of bad options.

I did discuss it with the wife, but with a very small child and limited space it's not something we can do either.

Wife and baby now in hotel.

Someone at work told me that babies are not responsive in their first month or so. My daughter is very responsive. She likes to look around and listen and she looks around when she hears my voice. She is only 4 days old.

Interesting times ahead.

I bought some baby formula from home the other day. Wife nursing daughter on bed and I open luggage to take out baby formula and at that point in time hit with deja vu. Crystal clear.

Thats so sad... And I'm not even a pet owner and realise how hard this will be.

Apparently baby looks like just like daddy. She is 2.49kg and farang. Born Sunday morning like her daddy. Don't know other details yet. Wife is not doing well. I just spoke with her. She had surgery twice. She has lost a lot of blood and has had blood transfusion(s) and there are other complications.

I fly out of HKG back to SYD in ~6 hours. Will try to find out more information later.

Congratulations to you & your wife JohnK

Congratulations! Fantastic phase of life ... very happy to read Mum Bub, and Dad are doing OK!

I hate dumb people who lie to me. I dropped my laptop in May and have finally gotten around to seeing if it can be fixed.

Rang a local repair shop and was assured they knew about HP laptops and would do an assessment for $30 which would be waived if I got it repaired. Fair enough I know it costs to take it apart and find out what is wrong with it.

Took it in, the technician hooked it up to another screen to determine if the laptop screen was damaged. It wasn't. Then I was asked if I had another HP laptop to compare it with because they weren't familiar with the brand. WTF!!!

They specialise in Mac books and Apple products. Why not tell me before I went there? So a couple of hours wasted and now I have to go through this cough again.

At least they didn't try to charge me the $30.

Watching the free Food Channel (SBS) with those little "did you know" tid bits in between shows.

This one was explaining that "coriander" and "cilantro" are the same thing, as are "green onions" and "scallions", and "rocket" (leaves) is the same as "arugula".

So they show some rocket being chopped as they put up the rocket tid bit - fine. But as they are showing the green onions bit, they are actually showing a leek being chopped. Then, for the coriander bit, instead they show parsley being chopped.

Epic. Fail.

Yes; I even remember when a smiley face was actually a smiling face and not some keyboard ersatz representation.

What I also know is that my iPhone emoticons (that much I can understand) come out as rubbish when posted on AFF using the application, or Safari.

Bah, humbug.

Why am I grumpy? I'm trying to get a RTW fare, in J, with stop-offs in Norway, the UK and the Caribbean with a side trip to Colombia for under $10K, that's why.

Oman Air is looking promising as a multi ticket substitute, though.

Edit: I have my TA sweating on the case. Unless we get a fantastic price, its an Award trip!

Not been a wonderful day here. I was out early and got back to a phone message from my mother telling me that a cousin's son had died suddenly in Thailand where he had been working. He was only 55. I hadn't seen him for ages but he would always call in and see Mum whenever he was in Leongatha. That was followed by the news that our next door neighbour has just been diagnosed with Alzheimers though it has been coming on for a while.
And the share market is down.
talking about the dow, all thisinstability is due to uncertainty about us interest rates. Nothing mre in its simplicity. markets hate the unknown.

So the sooner the fed lifts by 0.25%, possibly the better with the advice from the fed boss that this may only need one bump up. calming, soothing all that stuff.

As I don't follow it like I used to, (anyone in perth following that company that I think starts with an S that are into safety in aeroplanes), I was thinking that the corporate sector is showing reasonable signs of recovery and earnings are not bad. High pe ratios sure, but the economy is on the up. If that continues, you will get volatility but a steadier market I the longer term.

good luck.

you've left me grumpy with no context JT. And here's another failed apple emoticon (it's a sad face)

Just try typing in the universal emoticon combination instead, i.e. :(, which yields :(

And yes, on a Windows desktop, I see two ? symbols in diamonds, i.e. character doesn't exist in current character set.

Someone at work told me that babies are not responsive in their first month or so. .....

Someone at work is an idiot. You and your wife are your baby's safe place and bring her comfort. She knows your voice and knows your smells and she will respond to that.

I hope all of you are getting rest and your wife is feeling better.

This one was explaining that "coriander" .

Last night I found a I Hate Coriander facebook page, its actually very funny the lengths this guy goes to to hate on this noxious weed that appears on our plate in the form of a "salad".

I feel the same way about Kale. Growing up, it was a weed my italian dad would destroy, now its a super food *eyes rolling*

Here, here re kale. A weed masquerading as food.

My vitamin junkie husband is all about superfoods.

Here, Honey. Here is powdered something that is from the Mayan age or some other culture/nation that you can put into my protein bars (I make them for him)

Me: Yeah, yeah. More "superfoods" from cultures or nations that died out. Doesnt sound that super, does it.

It has been wet here in Adelaide.
