Just booked daughter on her first J flight. SYD - HND. (holiday in Japan before starting her PHD)
Hope I have not created another monster (hubby) that will only fly J from now on long haul flights.

Bindibuys it is hard to go back. We made that mistake in 1999 and then it grew to other rellies and friends.

we flew extensively with all 3 kids in both J and F. I think now I am more the one who feels guilty when they fly in Y- they are quite happy to, although do think longingly of what they know exists.

Not been a wonderful day here. I was out early and got back to a phone message from my mother telling me that a cousin's son had died suddenly in Thailand where he had been working. He was only 55. I hadn't seen him for ages but he would always call in and see Mum whenever he was in Leongatha. That was followed by the news that our next door neighbour has just been diagnosed with Alzheimers though it has been coming on for a while.
And the share market is down.

Sorry to hear that. My mother used to say that bad things happen in threes, so hopefully you are over some for a while.

Not good :(. Let them learn how to do this stuff for themselves, like we had to, I say :p.

Well for goodness sake just don't book her to go somewhere in F then is all I can say if you don't want to create a monster that's completely out of control ;):p:mrgreen:.

Yes that was our mistake in 1999.
My eldest son flew in coach to the Rio Olympics but next year he is booked to St Petersburg in Emirates suites for the soccer.
My sons still do midnight flights to the east coast to get to a sporting event after working that day.

JohnM, you may have to eat those words over dinner with her on Tuesday night. (you are lucky though...... hubby is cooking and not her  )

Long Haul only?

I flew my husband to SYD>MELB for approx 10hrs and he expected J seats, which he got via points.

Im current debating if its worth blowing 70K points for Atlanta>Nashville "J" seats for us. Its a 2hr flight and I know he wont be happy in Y

Atlanta-Nashville is blocked at 1 hour, with flight times of around 36 minutes per flightaware. 70K is a hefty price!

And like others I hope that is the last of 'the three' for you.

A couple snips from another thread:What is it with all these 'flogs' masquerading as world renowned chefs and their 'new age cuisine' where they think serving up a bowls of weeds on flts is acceptable? The same weeds that gazillions of genuine hard working Australian farmers have spent decades spraying and spraying to eradicate so decent fodder can grow?

Certainly not confined to QF - SQ have taken to serving certain 'salads' consisting of a few bull rushes and little else on some flts - give me a break!

Well played, sir!

You are right, this is why its been a debate for a couple of days now. Im thinking of buying Y and a comfort seat.

On the plus side, got our ice hockey tickets for a Nashville V Winnipeg NHL game. Never seen ice hockey before so should be good.

JohnK - the most important thing... how is your wife?
Wife is much better. Thanks for asking.

Just spent my first night with wife and baby in hospital. Baby cries a lot and after a cuddle is ok back in cot after a few minutes. She is strong but a little jaundice and may need treatment.

Not sure how we will do in hotel.

But looking at the DJIA one of the 'three' will rear its ugly head again today.
I have given up trying to second guess our market based on overseas - it is just totally random :(. I am up 1% today, but was slightly down yesterday. I love the stock market but it has become a bit of a casino!

I see what you mean. I am about the same - up 1%. Which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

House is now officially under offer, and we have identified a probable new place for mum. It's not in the least bit glamorous but it will certainly do the job. Only tough part is she'll have to part with her little dog. Not so good.
