Ah... it's good to be home! Now, better get to bed - in at the office first thing in the morning and straight into a meeting of course

I should be mindful of this. Picked up what looks to be a parasite and was on various drugs for 5 days. Fast forward 2 weeks and I have all the same symptoms again, so doesn't look like it left properly... GP tomorrow if I can get in, otherwise have one confirmed for Friday. Can't wait to get home tonight, been a long 3 weeks!

Go into the surgery announce yourself wait describing your urgent need to be seen. They will try squeeze u in. Keep the appointment on Friday to expand follow up is my advice.

Just found out an old family friend has died after picking up a parasite in Borneo. A very active woman in her 80s, she probably travelled more than most people I know (and thats saying something). Very sudden and unexpected :-|

Any idea what the infectious agent was?

No, I've only had info third hand but I was told she has eaten some fruit from a road stall, got a parasite, and I think brain lesions were mentioned? Cant be sure entirely. But she wasnt well, was admitted to hospital, lost consciousness and didnt recover.

sounds like a young friend of ours. Was eating salad in India and picked up something that attacked the sight centre in the brain and has pretty much lost the sight in one eye. I always try to stick to the "never eat anything uncooked unless it can be peeled" mantra, but it can be hard.

I rarely buy biscuits, but chocolate McVite's Digestives are on special at Coles this week and as I loved them as a kid and my attention was drawn to them, I bought a packet. Read on the packet that "the ingredients in this biscuit do not contain any substance that assist digestion." But they are wholewheat... anyway, 24 hours later they are all gone, and I can confirm that digestion is not aided.

Mrsdrron had an infallible method of sleeping after the birth of our son.He was breast fed during the day but at night he was given breastmilk in a bottle by me.Within a week he was only waking once at night and at 4 weeks began sleeping through.
Good strategy but not possible for everyone. Wife doesn't have enough breast milk. Daughter wants to be big like daddy before her 1st birthday.

Have some important meetings this morning so in the end not an option. Hopefully hold up till then, up vomiting all night again. Welcome home! :) Top of 12 degrees to boot, too.

Cricket commentators Richie Benaud and Tony Greig, both, have their birthdays today 06 October.

Two superstars, one with the willow predominantly and the other with the leg spin. Tony Greig often had to face the might of the west indies attack but it was a heart attack that got him.
Richie was utterly marvelousss and his last book showed his tongue in cheek character. It was called 'Over But Not Out'. However he eventually got caught in his slips by jack the dancer.

RIP

She has managed to sleep next to mum in bed.

She may be missing the heartbeat from being in the womb. If you have a white noise machine app on your phone, try that next time you put her down. Some babies just do not settle well in silence. And they do like to be held and warm.

You say she is full - I am assuming you are bottle-feeding? (as I imagine after all your wife has been through her milk supply will be limited or gone)

Yes unfortunately. Wife no energy from blood loss and 3 operations. Still she has some breast milk and rest of the time we feed our daughter bottled milk and she is drinking/eating more and more. She has slept ok today (tired?) and just waking for feeding.

It is so strange to look at her and keep seeing myself as baby. The resemblance is unbelievable. At least we know they used the right sperm. ;)

Seems appropiate!

It is amazing after all your poor wife has gone through that she is still able to feed, even if only a little. It will still be good for the baby and feeding often increases milk supply. I am glad you are enjoying the wonder of a baby in between the tiring times!

Thanks. My wife feeding baby now. First breast milk and now bottled milk. Baby is enjoying feeding so much. She makes all these strange noises of appreciation.

But the sad thing is I caught our daughter with one of my cans of Chang. Not good. ;)

We were tricked by our first baby sleeping the whole night from 6 weeks old. The second one wanted to be cuddled so he was the complete opposite.
The manufacturing dates were close to 6 years apart.

And promoting gliding, at Martin Place:
