She needs a root canal the poor thing. Luckily private insurance should cover a chunk of the cost. But it's still a big whack of cash.

One of my daughters has an upcoming appointment with a Specialist Endodontist. I think that's going to hurt me (in the wallet) as much as it hurts her

Our endodontist worked out at a gross $900 each for 45 minutes as we each needed to use him. Try to make your teeth last forever is a good plan.

JohnK just watch a bit of scifi and relax. Just remember life isn't a dress rehearsal.
Not a dress rehearsal but once you're dead it doesn't matter what you've achieved or didn't achieve.

Unless you believe that death isn't the end of life but just the end of life as we know it.

Where we are today is a result from a series of decisions throughout our life. On/off switches if you like. Some more straight forward than others.

If I had taken up the job offer from Astre in May 2002 I would more than likely not have worked for Intentia in February 2003 and in April 2003 would not have worked on the Bluescope data migration project if the Thai expat refused to travel back to Thailand so often as she had a young family.

Where would I have been had that simple decision been the opposite? Is it possible to see the result in a parallel universe? Too deep huh? That's what happens when you lay awake at night and cannot sleep.
yep too deep. get on with it.

You need more Stevie Wonder in your life! See post 56195...

Nothing productive comes from that line of thinking. Although I'll admit to doing it too.
The thinking is very productive. I investigate patterns in data for a living. It is exciting to investigate what if scenarios. Many answers to problems are revealed.

Get on with what? Life? History plays a big part in constructing the future. Some decisions will still be required regardless of the path you take.

Boarding for my flight that was due to depart 3 minutes ago has not yet commenced. I think the delay is going to be greater than the reported 20 minutes. I shouldn't have wasted ~AUD30 on Hotel Sentral in KUL tonight as I'll now have ~3 hours there with ~3 hours travel there and back. Oh and no windows to look out and ponder about life. ;)

If you leave your insurance card at home and just take a cc, at least you'll get the points. Then, claim it back afterwards.

I have a rule in life: No Regrets.

However, the only exception that I allow to that is that I regret not growing up in the era of fluoridated water .

Did someone watch Sliding Doors again?

Did someone watch Sliding Doors again?
No.

There was another movie a few years back where someone is killed in car accident in afternoon and the movie recounted the moments leading up to the accident of everyone involved. All started with someone late in the morning and go from there.

The Nicolas Cage movie the Family Man was quite good too.

JohnK, I often wonder how many things in my life would be different if only one change was made, say 20 years ago. It's not so much a wishful thought, just an interesting thought exercise. I do wonder about what the parallel universe me might be experiencing now.

Good luck! Mudlebank paid next to b. all for mine last week. Guess they have to make a profit to satisfy their shareholders, mea culpa, my lastest dividend payment will cover most of it, but not the crown in Dec. :(

All four of my kids slept in a bassinet beside my bed as babies. From the first night feed they would sleep beside me for the rest of the night. It just made life easier.

You will get many tips and hints from everyone especially as older first time parents. Just do what feels right for you both and the bub.

Good luck with the visa issues.

JohnK, this is very good advice. My apologies for not quoting this earlier but been busy moving houses.

Google can be a particularly nasty place for new parents, as some of the results can be forums pushing their own agenda.
You are never fully ready to be a parent, it is a learning curve and that includes each and every child.

But saying that, it is very rewarding none-the-less.

Number 1 son only slept for max of four hours at a time in the night up to the age of 18 months. Then decided to be awake for the next 2 hours despite our efforts at keeping room dark and quiet. I read every book possible and came to the conclusion I must be doing something wrong. One night at 18 months of age he slept the night. As soon as I woke I was in a panic thinking the worst and I woke him!

Number 2 had read the books. Classic sleeper. Realised then I had done nothing wrong in the first place and that all kids are different.

I had one of those boys as well....no sleep, and 9 months

Oh goody. The machine installed yesterday to dehumidify the room has not sent water into the bucket but dumped it onto the carpet which is now sodden and with water rising when pressed. The machine was installed by the company contracted by the Insurance company. We have original floorboards underneath that we haven't polished here yet. Now they will have to lift the carpet. Stupid stupid.
