Penelope Leach was my idol. Shame she wasn't writing about my number 1 son also.
I remember Penelope Leach - her book had gorgeous drawings of babies. My copy was well thumbed especially with No 1 baby. From memory it was quite a good guide and not as restrictive as Dr Spock whose book was also in vogue.
My family were all in South Africa, Mr FM's in Brisbane, we had only been in Canberra 3 years when Dr FM was born and our friends were all working and childless and no internet in the 80s. I would have been totally at sea without Penelope Leach! She was so practical and non-judgemental. Didn't help at all with my sleeping problems, but that was probably my fault - Mr FM has always maintained that I made life so interesting for them, they didn't want to sleep!

Can we leave the climate change arguments off this thread? I think they can be highly political and I don't feel like being the target of threats again.

Maybe it needs it's own thread, nothing political in my mind, mother nature is so much bigger than us mere mortals, she will definitely have the last world.
Climate change is a major reason why I decided years ago not to procreate, way too many people in this world already, certainly don't need anymore, for a while at least!

What politics? I don't believe in climate change. Weather goes through patterns. This is a bad year.

Personally I think God has something to say about increase in number of disasters but that's a debate best left for other forums.

You wouldn't think it'd be possible to go 59 years without obtaining any sort of decent ID. You'd be wrong.

Ive never paid an airline's voluntary carbon offset. Anyone paid it?

Nope. That option isn't even presented in our corporate online booking tool (which is about 90-95% of my travel).

But I do try not to be "wasteful" in other ways.

When you get too old to drive and travel you then cease to have an ID in the way of a passport or photo on a drivers licence.
We took the olds to the motor vehicle licence place with an original birth certificate and Medicare card to obtain a photo ID. Not too hard but necessary for 2016 and onwards.

The topic has previously been argued along primarily political lines.

At the very least, mentioning it usually evokes nought but trouble and victimisation.

It seems that we are in agreement that this is not the place for religious or climate change discussion.

Let's get back to other off topic discussion.

If you want birthday balloons past 100 you may need to get plain ones and put the higher numbers on them yourself.

Why? Because too many balloons increases chance of death by static electricity? :)
