Why is it you see patterns in computer data but not in scientific data and measurements?

... you mean the IPCC originating climate data sets consistently showing no material global temperature rise in the past 15 years or more, in spite of CO2 (note: not "carbon") levels increasing inexorably (the Mann 'hockey stick' refers)? I hope no-one here is a 'climate denier'!;)

Ah! I remember the good 'ol days when the 'science was settled' and we were all told to shut up and not argue. Fortunately there were enough in the "eppur si muove" camp.

Ive never paid an airline's voluntary carbon offset. Anyone paid it?

Now that's a 'nice little earner' for someone. Sort of like the indulgences the Catholic Church used to sell - sinners used to pay cash to absolve themselves or to reduce the amount of penance. Come to think of it, there are many similarities between the climate change industry and various churches - from the High Priests laying down Holy Writ, to charging for indulgences, to (verbal) burning of heretics, to excommunication or shunning for those scientists who don't toe the line, etc.

Relax, everyone, the sun will rise tomorrow and hopefully it'll be hotter than today.

Ouch.

That's what the internet is for. Twenty minutes looking at Amazon or eBay should yield something suitable. Or Tiffany.com. :) She deserves a push present too. ;)
Suitable for who? I'm a cheapskate that struggles to get to 3 digits for $ spend.

And what's a push present?

Had a DHL card in my mail box when I got home.

Logged on, the Billing Ref Number doesnt work as "not in our system"

Phoned DHL and I was told that "The driver had too many deliveries to make today and was unable to make a delivery to your home"

Me: So he could come to my house, write out a card, put it in my mail box but was "too busy to make a delivery" to my front door?

DHL: Ummmm, yep. Thats what it looks like.

Pathetic, but that does seem to happen semi frequently.

AusPost have some subbies who do the same. Entire load is dropped at the post office with cards delivered to each address.

Fortunately my Aus Post guy knows I wont tolerate that. Though he didnt drop off things authorised for "safe drop" today despite their being somewhere safe to leave them. At least the post office is close and I was going there anyway.

It annoys me so much when I specifically give permission to leave a parcel and then come how to have a card.
The worst one I had with a tradie was years ago when I was expecting someone to fix a range hood. I specifically told them I was not available for an hour and a half at 11 am as I had to go to work. No problem, they'd work around that. Nope - come home to a 'we missed you' card right when I told them I was going to be away :(. I had to make a new booking. The only electrician I know who had to draw a diagram of the range hood motor as he didn't know its number. And of course when the part came it was wrong. Bought a new range hood instead!

What annoys me is a seller that wont send to a mail box, which I have, but if Im not home they will take to a...yep, a post office!

And even then, its not a proper post office but one of these dodgy drop box/newsagent thats in a part of my town that I dont drive to.

For the life of me, I cant remember what I bought that needs a DHL delivery so will find out tomorrow hopefully

The carpet tradie did that to me. Was supposed to get a call the night before for an inspection. No phone call so presumed nothing was going to happen until it came. Received a phone call about 45 minutes before I needed to take sick cat to vet. He was up north and I said that wouldn't work as he would arrive while I was out. So come back at 12.30pm. 40 minutes later - knock on door -"I made it" he said. Yes, ok make it quick as I'm leaving in 5 minutes. So did his thing as I packed cat up. Then said he needed to set up his equipment and he would lock up the house. Seriously. So booted him out and he came back around 4pm. It was his equipment that malfunctioned and now they have to replace two rooms of carpet. Sigh.

I hope you get to choose the new carpet at least!

And how is cat after his weekend of no alcohol?
