I saw one collecting yesterday at 7pm.

All the post boxes say 6pm for collection time. I can't see how they can all be emptied simultaneously.

Post boxes further away from distribution centre may be earlier. Mine says 1630 hrs

But yes deposit by stated time to guarantee pickup. deposit after pickup may still be picked up if postie has not emptied it yet.

For those following the chateau penegal saga, my house was sold at auction today. The weather was a bit wet, but the garden was looking fabulous with the fresh rain really drawing out the green tones. Happy with the price. The market certainly hasn't "cooled" in this area.

40 years and 4 months after I first visited John O'Groats, I've managed to make it to Land's End!

The on board GPS unit in our Citroen C5 rental sent us off the main dual carriageway, thought it odd, then when going over an over pass, the traffic on dual carriageway was at a complete standstill, didn't realise they can do real time monitoring. Quite pleased to say the least.

In a small pub in Pendeen in Cornwall, another patron says 'where abouts in Australia are you from?' Canberra I say, he says ' I have a son at uni in Canberra and a daughter living in Grenfell'. His parents moved to Oz in the late sixties and his mother returned to Cornwall after the death of her husband. Now his mother has died and he is back here sorting her things out! He said 'I was born in Cornwall but I have spent most of my life in Australia and regard myself as Australian'. I like to hear things like that.

Just as an aside, the internet speed here down in deepest, darkest Cornwall is very fast, at least in comparison to the awful service we get in Canberra.

I've also seen this at my local PO - apparently the time stated is the last pick-up for the day. Boxes in heavier traffic areas may be emptied several times during the day and often sorted immediately on arrival at the sorting office/DC.

I was in Chicago on Thursday and Friday night and the buzz was in the air. The W flags were everywhere including City Hall and the Art Institute.

I watched the last few innings tonight in a steak house/sports bar in Spokane WA wearing my Chicago Cubs post season cap.

no idea - a low wedge is my idea of an ultra high heel. However Dr FM who was premature and had low muscle tone and balancing problems and years of intervention, manages real ultra high heels with aplomb ( hopefully not at work).
