All I've asked is that hubby doesn't give my Tupperware to his mail order bride.

But we did have a screaming, well for us, which isn't much, fight over our wills if we both are dead.

He's plan is to out live me to get the will that he wants.

For FM, never underestimate how ugly things will become with money and butt hurt feelings so don't assume or trust someone will do the right thing.

I know - I have seen a couple of nasty ones. I have also seen ones where both parties have treated each other with respect. Hard to know, but in the end have to go with the inherent nature of the person involved.

Did someone ask the Diva to sign a prenup?
Got me thinking does anyone get prenups signed?

I brought more assets into this marriage than my husband, and then after we were married inherited a bit more, enough for a deposit on a house in Melbourne, if you get my drift... But my husband has always earned more than me, so I think it will even out by the time we've been married twenty years. My mother wanted me to get one, but I did not bother, I didn't think the sums of money involved were worth the angst, even though I know he would have signed one for me.

I have seen people do it right, and I have seen a screaming hell match which got really ugly in front of the kids and hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawyers' fees. I think the more money there is, the more likely it will turn ugly. And also, proximity to retirement matters too. The couple we bought this house off were both scrambling to have enough money to buy their own place for retirement...even though the RE agents were discreet, the layers were not.

One advantage to a long marriage, we both came into it about equal finances. (i.e broke and a 18% mortgage payments).
Now... I worry about the kids having to split any inheritance with a gold digger.

Yesterday I spent a bit of time planning our next, next, next trip... to Iceland.

As usual, its all changed, looks like we're going to Scotland to do a, Not Another Bloody Castle Tour.

Hubby found a 19 castle map guide and that Glenfiddich has 4hr tours and you get to pour your own bottle/select your own cask.

Im so getting him a Bloody Castle Tour tshirt.

End of an era for Syd Uni's Jacaranda. Fell over due to old age. Cuttings have been grafted to other jacarandas
<snip photo>
Told daughter who did Vet Sci at Sydney and her response was that the students wouldn't have to start studying now!
(The saying was that when the jacaranda blooms you need to start studying for the exams.)

Your daughter did Vet Sci at Syd? Can I assume now graduated?
My daughter wants to do Vet Sci at CSU Wagga. Wants to do large animals not just DCB (Dog cat budgie).

Whats post grad prospects like for Vets?

sounds like me and churches :). I had a limit put on me by the kids - only one church per city. I was allowed 3 in Rome. :)

Not sure about Aus, but a friend of mine moved over to London and did locum Vet work and had no troubles at all finding work.

She graduated at the end of 2004 but has never actually worked as a practising vet. She went into the Grad program at the Dept of Agriculture (used be DAFF). The money offered for practising vets was not great considering the amount of study (unless you basically specialise and have your own practice). She was keen on equine performance medicine when she was studying but found that she was not large enough to push the big animals around as you needed to do. Like your daughter she was not that keen on small animal practice as she felt/feels people spend mega bucks on keeping their pets alive when it would be better to put them down. She liked sheep but discovered in her intern year (Yr 5) that many farmers are not able/willing to pay for treatments. She saw cattle dogs with snake bites where the owner would not pay for antivenene yet witnessed someone else who wanted dialysis for a 12yr old labrador.
The longer she stayed in the public service the harder it has been to make a change. She has been lucky with a lot of overseas travel when she was in charge of meat exports, though her current role is more policy and she does not enjoy that a great deal.

Is CSU offering a full Vet Sci course now? When daughter did hers, it was only Syd, Melb, Bris, and one in WA. She applied for and was accepted into the three east coast ones and in the end chose Sydney as it was closer. The UAI when she entered was about 97 though if there are more institutions offering a course it might be lower now.

Can someone please give me a link to how to post pics? IIRC I saw a how to do it in this thread but can't find it.

CSU Wagga is a 6 year hybrid. Vet Biology Vet Science. You can exit some years in with some qualification but not Vet Sci.
Will be a bit of travel I suppose between home and WGA. There is an airport or a 5 hour drive.

Yep thats what I thought. Animals are chattels with a value limit which makes it difficult for vets for large animals. The morality can be more challenging that human medicine. Simple medicine can save a life but limited if owner cant/wont pay.

Daughter wants to stream into the equine area. She seems to have a knack with horses. Shes a small frame too but seems to be able to "whisper" in its ear.

Everyone wants to do vet at SYD. But they dont really have a large animal component.
