CSU Wagga is a 6 year hybrid. Vet Biology Vet Science. You can exit some years in with some qualification but not Vet Sci.
Will be a bit of travel I suppose between home and WGA. There is an airport or a 5 hour drive.

Yep thats what I thought. Animals are chattels with a value limit which makes it difficult for vets for large animals. The morality can be more challenging that human medicine. Simple medicine can save a life but limited if owner cant/wont pay.

Daughter wants to stream into the equine area. She seems to have a knack with horses. Shes a small frame too but seems to be able to "whisper" in its ear.

Everyone wants to do vet at SYD. But they dont really have a large animal component.
Sydney was one of the few places that offered Vet Sci in 2000, so not a lot of choice. It did mean she could take her horse with her in fourth year and board him out at Camden as she they did 6 months there and then again in fifth year when they spent 6 months at the Vet Hospital at the main campus. In her day there was a fair bit of equine work. They also had to work on farms for something like 8 weeks a year in vacation (maybe more) with a list of the types of properties they had to work on, 2 weeks beef, 2 weeks dairy, 2 weeks alpaca/deer, 2 weeks pigs etc. The whole fifth year was spent in practice, working with vets, but of course no pay. She did a fair bit of that out of Canberra though the set up was pretty poor with you having to move to a new practice every 4 weeks so you never really could get your teeth into anything. It was better when they spent the time at the Syd Vet Hospital as that was longer.
She said she is not sure she would have done the course now; at the time she didn't want to do Medicine and was really strong in the sciences and maths and with her love of animals she seemed to almost drift into it.
HECS was pretty high but she paid it back herself as we paid for her living and accommodation for the 5 years (she lived in college for the first three then shared with another vet student for the next couple).

CSU said to daughter on Uni information night that she could take her horse with her to CSU WGA and board it there. Immediately she was sold.

I think the "take your own horse" thing was a romantic marketing ploy that caters for the predominantly female student cohort.

Of course the role of the parent is to provide some reality into the conversation. In the end she agreed that having the horse at CSU will be more of a hassle than back home in SYD.

But the colours don't match the days. That just makes it all the more confusing.
its not a good look to be caught checking down your front to find out the day of the week.

If you do get to Iceland, you could check out the latest 'protest' vote by voters sick of their conventional governments. The Pirate Party got 13% of the vote and may be part of a coalition govt.

Yes, I know how that works. Daughter was very keen on going to a school in Armadale when she was young as you could take your horse and compete etc etc.

Funny she does not ride at all now or have a horse. I think she has realised the time (and money) involved is too much. She took up road bike racing (the bikes are nearly as expensive as a horse) but has not been able to ride or compete much at all this year as she has had a hip injury. It has meant she has been dropped from the racing team and squad so is not too happy.

Hey GarrettM did you run into one of our rellies when you were getting the vodka and whisky? He is Ben.
I can go an icy vodka. I bought the vanilla one.

Can't say I asked for particulars cove. Although had I known I may have. Might have got a discount on some of the more expensive labels. $700 is a little pricey for me, although I'm sure it's a fine whiskey. But I was happy to part with a few green banknotes to come away with my choices.

Yes the whisky seemed hexxy.
I had a call from Penfolds and boy have they raised their pricing. The 707 at $480....when it was about $100 about a decade ago. At that price none of us will be able to retire before we are 100 years old.

I buy my black work socks, and my white casual socks in batches of 15 or 20 pairs. Makes choosing what to wear on any day simple!
