I never separate anything when I wash my clothes. Why bother. Sometimes I forget to do so when I wash the wife's garments. I've been in trouble a few times for "ruining" some tops.

So who watched the Cox Plate? We knew Winx was a champion but OMG did she race into legend status today. What a pleasure to watch!

For those that are unfamiliar whilst the Melb Cup is the race that stops a nation - it is still a handicap race - the Cox Plate at weight for age is the 'heavyweight c/ship' of Australasian racing each year - the best horse in the land each year always salutes the judge in Cox Plate if they stay upright.
Best of all time? Not quite but still a champion horse.

For what it is worth the last time I backed Winx was the last time she was beaten. Never backed Black Caviar. Was unsuccessful at jinxing Frankel by backing him a few times at very short odds.

$500 first up on Winx next preparation....

I use Dye Catchers and Napisan. Unless something is really brand new (eg dark blue jeans or some red shirts), it's extremely rare for colours to run IMHO, and Dye Catchers usually catch them. I really can't be sorted sorting colours!

I use four different programs and 5 different loads on my machine : light synthetic (white, pale colors), dark synthetic (black, dark colors and denim), cold hand wash (wool and machine washable cashmere), and cottons eco (bedding and towels).
Any new dark garment is washed alone in a Quick wash before it's allowed in the general pile.
The rest is dry cleaned.

Foolish to try to rank horses from different eras Johnny - but she is certainly a legend.

Just how good is this years carnival - James coughmings continues the legacy of the famous coughmings family - now 4 generations of Victorian Derby winning trainers starting with great grandad Jim in 1948 then grandad the legend Bart with 5 winners and dad Anthony in 2012.

And how about Jameka being the only Australian bred horse lining up in the 24 horse field this year up against all the foreign raiders and internationally bred horses vying for our highest sought after prize? And she is in it up to her ears!

Will we get another 'Michelle Payne' story this year? Probably not as that was the best story in the cups 155 year history. Good luck to all who have a little punt on the day - either before or after the race all please hug your family and friends around you and thoroughly enjoy this oh so typically unique Australian phenomenon that brings us all to a stop for a bit over 3 mins each year on the 1st Tuesday in November.

Oh and I should add that all you non Victorians can forget about doing business with Victoria today - 90% of the state has added this non public holiday Mon to their looonnng weekend slotted in between Sat, Sun and public holiday tomorrow Cup Day Tue Nov 1. Roads are totally empty as I drove to work today. Again another Australian phenomena the looonnng weekend.

Don't worry mate, some of us are keeping the economy running

Tuesday is just another workday where we stop for about 5 minutes.....my horse generally takes his/her time to get to the finish line at the 3,200 metre mark so I allow the additional 2 minutes for it to win the coughy prize.

Yeah, add that to the Friday footy grand final holiday and we can see how Vitoria is the workers paradise (not to mention a paradise for the Minister's dogs).

I don't expect to watch the horse race tomorrow; I'm not agin it, but simply can't see the point of making an exception to my complete indifference to horse racing because of one particular race.

To be fair, VIC has the same number as NSW, and this year TAS. As well as one less then the ACT and SA (due to Christmas being on a weekend).

Some of us even have to work tomorrow!

Traffic was a dream this morning...except for the numpty that kept getting impatient that the car in front wouldnt pull out into the car ahead of him...then sat at the lights eating cereal out of a bowl

And some of us are very happy to work tomorrow noting we're taking TIL instead of double time. Another day of leave to take in the future. :)

True that...I get 1.66 days of TOIL for xmas in exchange for tomorrow.

fairly similar to me - lights, darks, denims and hand wash (which is actually cold, no spin in the machine). Since the kids left with their denims, I have got rid of that and ncreasingly I am finding I can combine light and dark, as Mr FM and I don't seem to have clothes that run. Occasionally I will fish out something new and wash it separately until I am sure it is safe.

Most of my washing goes in together unless its handwash only, or a dark colour and relatively new. Jeans get their own load, as do towels. But the rest all goes in together without any dramas.
