When I was in Uni we had a one fellow student whom we nicknamed A1. Because he sat in Row A seat 1. He was always super early so he could get that spot everytime we were in that lecture theatre. He wore a tie to Uni.

When we tried to sit in "His" spot, he would then sit in A2 and invaded your personal space even if no one else say in row A.

Strange..
On a slightly related theme, there was a lecturer (I think he was in the history department) who would walk in on our lecture and point at his watch if the lecturer who was in there went slightly over time (think it was my geomorphology lecturer who occasionally ran over time as in not finishing up at the 5 minutes to mark). Anyway this happened a couple of times and then our lecturer arrived one morning, took out a large alarm clock, set it with the words "Sudden death day today". We all cracked up.This was in the Ming Wing back in the early 70s.
Edit - just looked him up - Professor James (Jim) Peterson who sadly passed away in 2012. He had a real love for his area and teaching, as well as a great sense of humour.

[h=1]Lord Snowdon, charming royal rebel and talented photographer, dead at 86 [/h]
The Queen was said to be "saddened" after Lord Snowdon, her former brother-in-law and the original "royal rebel", died at the age of 86.

Snowdon earned a reputation as one of the country's foremost photographers during a career that spanned six decades, with subjects as diverse as Marlene Dietrich, David Bowie and, of course, the Royal family. He was also a lifelong campaigner for the disabled.

But it is for his marriage to Princess Margaret, which ended in divorce after 18 years, that he will always be best remembered.

And another well known name who created history has died.

Big day sorting and cataloging the wine. Not quite done but close. Cat Bella did a good job of testing each of the boxes for us :D

I must get up on the roof and clean the gutters before a hail storm hits like last year when we had a water ingress that was a pain in the... Anyone know of a gutter protection system that actually works?
Have a look at this system: Gutter Grip | Gutter Overflow Solution
Gives the mandatory 10mm gap between the back of the gutter and the facia. Slots in the front of high front gutters is just not enough, and does not conform to Aust Standards.

  1. What are appropriate overflow methods?

Appropriate overflow methods are full length (continuous) overflows designed to prevent water entering the building from a 1 in 100 year storm event.

  2. Is a 10mm gap at the back of the gutter between the gutter and fascia an appropriate overflow method?

Yes, it is one of the acceptable examples shown in the Australian Standards.
  3. Is a 10mm gap the only method? No, there are many options; however, the options must be full length (continuous).
  4. Do slots in gutter satisfy the overflow requirement?

No, slots are not recognised by the BCA (Building Code of Australia) or Australian Standards as an appropriate overflow method.

You don't have to be claiming ill health to get your pro rata LSL. You can be leaving to take up family responsibilities - just not a new job.
Is that right? I was reading that you needed to leave work for personal health reasons or to take care of sick family member.

They use the term domestic necessity (aside from your own illness and incapacity). Based on what you've shared here, I'd say you meet domestic necessity grounds.

Main thing is that you're not going to a new/ better job - or rather, you don't tell HR you are resigning to take a new job up!

A budding WP in future years?

In most respects.
He assumed his seat was A1 - (nope)
He assumed he had a shadow else he would get irritated (no he often didn't get a shadow)
He assumed his seat A1 would get him to where he was going much quicker (nope)
He assumed he would get upgraded marks - (Brass razoo)

Except he wore a tie. For this alone his WP scores would have been heavily deducted in "TonyHancock's questions for a WP"

Thanks. Wouldn't be going to a new job. Think wife and daughter would be better off if we were in Sydney and not commuting.

Wow JustinF. Just read your story about your Turkey trip and the amazing experience with the 10 year old boy, in the AFF newsletter. Thanks for sharing.

And I see you made the AFF home page Pushka.
Does that mean I get to travel with a celebrity?:)

I mainly use the app? So - guess I need to check into that. In which case if true, then I guess yes! :p

Oh dear. :o. They wrote it up much better than I did! :D

Now, shall we aim for that in April Dame? I reckon a repeat trip on QM2 with Singapore, and Dubai as bookends might just do the trick?
Speaking of which - must get on to Afternoon Tea @ Burj plus the trip to the top of Khalifa. Busy busy.

Try working in an "Agile" office environment.
Not for me thanks. I'm old school and value my personal space. Try selling "Agile" to the young kids.

Infact I hate almost everything to do with "Agile" including sprints and scrum.
