Starting to make progress. Started moving some things today. Wine is pretty much all boxed up and we should start moving it tomorrow evening.

This time six years ago, we packed up a ~5 bedroom house in 20 hours. It can be done!
Unfortunately, no culling of anything first. :(

And you can age a decade in a year

Yep. The stress - emotional and financial - from a divorce drains your will to live at times. I could not believe what a dark journey it is.

Having said that, I don't imagine it's anywhere near as bad as losing your house/everything in a bushfire, suffering a debilitating illness, or losing a child.

I count myself lucky not to have experienced those blows from life - there is always someone worse off than ourselves.

I am used to working in "hot desk" and "clean desk policy" workplaces. I don't mind it so much, and it definitely helps you not to build up clutter.

I'm not sure we could properly pack up our current house in 20 days at the moment :!:

I don't think I am a hoarder, but "stuff" certainly does have a way of expanding to fill the available space.

I had a really good weekend. Things have been very hectic lately with the sale of the house I live in, renovation of my "new" apartment, and a very full work schedule, so I decided to take the weekend "off" and didn't do any work work, housework, or renovation work.

I filled my time with numerous coffee catch ups, brunch, a dinner party (I cooked), a 40th birthday party, and a crazy night out.

I spent way too much money, but it really was an enjoyable weekend. It's important to have fun sometimes, even if the wallet (and liver) stops talking to you.

We went to the two Scorchers cricket games on Saturday and it was very, very hot at the WACA. Most of Sunday was a write off but some Veuve was a big help together with lots of water in reviving. I did make progress on the book Planet Jackson and I did book the SIL and niece on a long weekend for Australia Day in Melbourne. That got me wondering why the Velocity site for redemptions is so clunky. I wouldn't attempt a booking on my iPad like I do with Qantas. The girls wanted the red eye so I put them in a sleeper suite on an A330 with Virgin seeing Qantas had dust on that date and time.

No way we can pack that quickly; plus my mum still has a tonne of stuff in the house and I refuse to touch it. Two bedroom house, two sheds, and the roof is also full of stuff.

Do you want to do mine also?

No! But I do need you to come collect your wine from our place...

I didn't say properly. My little sister did some interesting things with our TV cabinet - when we were unpacking, I found large packing boxes with alcohol bottles at the bottom and wine glass at the top.
But it is amazing what you can achieve with a heap of help, and you think at least 3m of water will be going through the entire house.

One needs to be a bit circumspect with the culling. We threw out lots of stuff that we thought we didn't need though unfortunately some items would have been useful (like the roast meat tray and carving set). At least it declutters this place. We also gave a bit of furniture to daughter and now see one or two pieces may have fitted in here (but certainly not the 8 foot long buffet/drawers). She also has taken 'command' of a lot of my special crockery like the bone china child cups and saucers I was given for my 5th birthday (not that's going back a tad) and the espresso set we had as an engagement present. She doesn't consider they are hers but is just storing them in her cabinets for me. We have plenty of space here but they can stay at her place for the present :)

I was looking at our house on the weekend and getting overwhelmed by the clutter so plan to throw out/donate/store a box or garbage bag size a week. "Stuff" needs to go!

In the meantime, my friend who works at the airport and every 3 weeks or so rocks up and grabs a cheap seat somewhere, anywhere, arrived LAX and exited, got on her flight to Alaska, landed and then had a light bulb moment of, "Ummm. I didnt pick up my bags at LAX".

Whoops! Definitely something I worry about doing on the rare occasions that we have checked bags...
