Whereas here in my SIN hotel (Ibis Bencoolen) where I have had the A/Con 'meat locker' setting since I got here on Friday night it is just lovely.

I will sleep well tonight.

I'm very, very close to pushing the buy button on a Finnair fare LHR-HEL-HKG vv for ~$A615. Earns Qantas SC's too.

That's almost an insane level of pricing. Competing fares on oneworld are closer to $A1000.

I have landed in Adelaide and the upgrade came through, not looking forward to hot and humid Brisbane, business flights get better you know where all the buttons are but this skybed has got way too much slope for my liking, not much too do international airside in Adelaide but I knew that already some poor passenger lost his duty free going through transit to Melbourne

Wouldn't that be a domestic flight, so no LAGS?

It's a domestic flight but in an international airport (or for ADL anyway, "section").

Since it's run through the international part, it's all international rules, which means no go on LAGs.

You'd think that all governments and especially flights etc. with domestic-international sectors (e.g. CX105 HKG-ADL-MEL, QF82 SIN-ADL-MEL) would make appropriate arrangements for LAGs so that those that purchase (or carry) "secure" bags through SIN (or HKG) can still carry them into Australia into final destination MEL.

Good to hear your upgrades came through. You did pretty well, although mustn't be all that popular sector to upgrade, or just not enough upgrade requests, or the QF upgrade generosity continues.

Skyslopes  IIRC the old LH J class (not sure how many of them are out there) also has lie-flat - not fully flat - seats, plus flaky IFE (non-AVOD). I can't remember exactly what it is (I could look it up....).

So it seems QF isn't the only one in the air with lie-flat J seats, but lie-flat is definitely yesterday's news. To quote one of the LH reps from the Star Mega Do, "We were very fast to implement this technology but now we need to reconsider our position; it is not that it was a strategic blunder, but it's just that we went fast and now times are changing."

Don't you love inconsiderate neighbours. Ones upstairs last night had the stereo cranked to 11 well past midnight, they couldn't even hear loud knocks at the door so they could be politely asked to turn it down.

And at 5am in the morning, some people a block up the street making all kinds of ruckus with their windows open and stereo also cranked up putting out house music.

Seriously people, a bit of respect for others thanks.

Reminds me of around 12 months ago, when we had some (what I now believe to be short-term) neighbours above us that constantly used to have loud music up.

I felt old when I called the police at 1am on a school night to complain about the noise. Then I thought 'screw them it's a school night' :)

Police came, noise ceased. 30 minutes later, noise resumed.

The music and bass stopped a few months later. I assume others had complained. Some tenants have never heard of 'quiet enjoyment of premises' :)

I dare say i'll be doing similar in HKG in May. Not been to any really tropical places in 20 years or so (bar transit) so 4 days there will see me struggling.

I'm sure the bars I end up in will be well air conditioned. If not, I'm sure my hotel room can serve as a bar:)

34 degrees? Can you donate about 5-10 of those degrees here please? At least the mins for the next 10 days here are above zero. Should keep the snow and ice away.

I’m just testing I can reply to this post :p

Anyway, bloody hot here today, upstairs bedrooms still roasting too, so it’s
gonna be a hot night.

It got to 42.7 here today. It was hot.

My high is set to be 7 today (and low 2). So that's not too bad... A few more days and I can claim that we're having a heatwave !

I am now back in Brisbane; very tired; the plane from Adelaide was late so it was a quick transit in Melbourne; at least no air side bus to worry about.

The flight from Melbourne to Brisbane was delayed 45 minutes but I didn't find out about the extra 30 minutes until we were on the plane.

The lunch choices were good; some sandwiches or a quiche which was very hot and tasty.

Dam hot here now so I have the air conditioner on full.

So where should I fly next; Fiji. ;)

Yeah why not ... There are some nice hotels to relax in over there.

I'm off to Singapore within the next couple of weeks I think ... still doing the planning now. Too late for SinDo, but maybe next year !

Your time from Int'l gate to Dom lounge, according to your tweet, was excellent even for MEL.

Although I'm guessing that being in J you got an Express Pass and you had nothing to declare, and/or the time you arrived in MEL it is not the peak time for arrivals.

The lunch choices were good; some sandwiches or a quiche which was very hot and tasty.

Must be alright considering these have been oft the topic of QF's cutbacks. Especially with people simply being given a hot pastry instead of a wholesome sandwich.

Fiji Resort by Hilton is pretty cheap. Yeah, Fiji sounds good. Now where's my new Amex Plat....

My problem is that there's not a lot to do in SIN, and I've seen a good deal of it. Admittedly most of that sightseeing was over 15 years ago now, but still. Probably the only other things I'd like to do is go to Batam and cross over for a day trip to JB (although people say there's not a lot to do there at all). Maybe see a bit more of SIN city centre, but that's it.

Of course the other thing to do in SIN - just like most of the rest of Asia - is eat. ;) :) :D Satay anyone?

Looking into the trip, but not soon. Using a positioning flight to Fiji with my old Asia Miles, I can grab a return ticket NAN-BNE-NAN (via SYD & MEL) for under $1000. And then a flight back for under $500, should give 540SC :p

Sounds reasonable and mad. While my mind is still running wild, that makes LTG achievable for $40,000. Crazy :D
