The totally off-topic thread

Thanks Sam.

I thought I would stop at the 10,000 post club thread. I think the next important milestones are 15,000 posts then 20,000 posts. With serfty's current posting rate shouldn't be too long before he hits 15,000 posts. ;)

No worries. I notice most of the congratulatory threads after 9,000 are dedicated to just one member anyway.

Also interesting to note that with this post, it’s 6,000 replies to the totally off-topic thread. Pretty sizeable.

There are only 3 of us over 10,000 posts and oz_mark, straitman, mal and simongr are well on their way.

This thread is like a black hole. It is sucking everything in....

DOes that mean serfty and yourself are planning on exponentially increasing post rates?

With their post rates being what they are, they should get to 15k at the same time, however serfty appears to be posting a lot more (it’s just not revealed in his post count as he’s been a member longer, and it rises slower), so he could get there before the end of the year!

I expect my posting rate to drop over the next three weeks while I fly some 49K miles ...

Is that 49K BIS miles in 3 weeks???

And you thought I was crazy and a contest for Kiwi Flyer!

This got me wondering how much I'd managed to fly on my trip (which I must admit was a little insane) .. turns out I flew 41.5k BIS miles over three weeks :p

Don't you hate it when you are in the middle of booking a fare (where the fare bucket has an availability of one) and the website has a hiccup?

Currently waiting for my fare to become available again ... waiting, waiting, waiting.

My longest short term routing was MEL-xSYD-xLAX-xJFK-BOS-xDFW-xSFO-xLAX-xHNL-xLAX-xORD-BOS-xJFK-xLAX-xMEL.

I was in the same 752 -LAX-HNL-LAX-ORD- ..

32¼K miles in 4½ days

Didn't you make a run to Florida in that trip Nov 2007; or is this another mad mileage trip, I am sure in the few days you made Platinum.

And you know I expect you to be flying off somewhere most weekends.

...or you get right to the end, only to get told it can't be confirmed, then you discover someone else must have been just that little bit quicker.

Looking at EF, the fare bucket is now showing as RC (ie closed) on the flight combo I want. Don't know why it's been closed as fares were displaying earlier, and if it will be re-opened.

The airline isn't that smart though as each individual flight has R availability, so I can multi-city on the airline's website it and get the desired availability. Price will still be about $A100 more than I want to pay ... but that multi-city price is about $100 less than the through flight wants to now charge me (higher fare class)

-- edit. Have managed to trick my preferred website into multi-city booking it, so price is back where I want it to be.

Does help to know the various tricks of the trade!

-- Edit again.
The stupid thing is that the first booking actually got to the stage of an e-ticket being created. It's visible in my Qantas account. Didn't realise until I just checked then. I didn't pay for the ticket, so I'd expect it to fall through pretty quickly.
