There must be security up top because once you get downstairs it's just a large open area to the pavilions and no further checking.

different entrance- we lined up in the shopping mall (I went to Apple Store and used free wifi) - then went through security to get inside, admitted this was October 2015

Correct, by the sound of it. This is what's being reported:

The man was carrying two backpacks when at around 10am local time he approached four soldiers patrolling at the entrance to the underground Carrousel du Louvre shopping mall, which lies beneath the museum.

They told him he could not bring his bags into the mall.

"That's when he got the knife out and that's when he tried to stab the soldier," said Yves Lefebvre, a police union official.

Clearly not on top

But that is not the only entrance! ;) You can skip those queues if you enter directly from the Rivoli metro station. Walk through the aforementioned shopping area, then get screened.

Yep. Can see that now. :p.

Absolutely what we have done on 2 occasions. Sure beats queuing up top or even outside.

Yes. It's the best and quickest entrance. Most people go to the glass pyramid and don't know about it so it's usually not crowded.

Just wondering whether anyone here knew any of my colleagues from the BASI Adelaide Field Office: Geoff Banfield (RAAF pilot course 08); Graeme Bailey (RPC 54); F John L Downing (WgCdr).

Boy that was hot today. Close to 20,000 steps according to SHealth and phone not always on person. You don't realise how many steps you actually do in a day.

Weirdly last time we purchased a ticket in advance. We completely skipped that queue. It's on the left looking at the pyramid and there was no one in it.

The only way I've gone in, after a little tip from a tour guide. Sure beats standing in a long line.

Had some randoms turn up yesterday to inspect the house despite it not being open for another week. Glad I wasnt home....

Was the agent with them (in which case should have called ahead to make sure it was convenient) or an off the street blow in?

Blow ins. I was still in my PJs. The first couple were very confused and I had to repeat that the open house was next week about 5 times. The second family seemed to understand their mistake much more readily.

Boy, two lots of randoms - that is scary. Maybe they got the dates mixed up. I couldn't believe it once when my father thought it was OK to rock up to a house with a For Sale sign on it and ask to have a look through (think he saw it driving past).
Open houses seem to be the way that agents do it these days - our last place had several but the ones before that had the agent making arrangements to bring potential buyers through individually. They always had keys and if we were at work they would leave a business card on the bench in the kitchen to show they had been there. Canberra used to have a system where lots of different agents had access to the property and the key was locked in a container outside with a code. It was called multi-list from memory. We bought a house through it but think it had ended by the time we sold. Think the city had grown so that individual agents were protecting their own listings. Auctions are the big thing at present.

I do believe that they were both genuine mistakes re: the date. But still annoying from my point of view.
