Happy Valentine's day to everyone.

I hope your day is filled with love and a glass of something appropriate
Mr FM went out shopping for rabbit food and came back with a small box of chocolates for me as a Valentines day gift. He proudly told me it was only a small one, because he knows I am trying not to eat chocolates. :)

Australia Post tracking system is a joke. In this day and high tech world they should be able to track an item in real time. Plus there seems to be NO ONE working in Aust Post over the weekends as parcels don't move in the tracking system. 5 million dollars to a CEO who cant get a parcel from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast in under a week !!

Being semi-rural we get mail deliveries on MWF (3 days/week). I have been told that the reason we get almost no mail on Mondays is that the distribution center in Perth doesn't work on the weekends. So the overnight on Sunday night to the south doesn't see a lot of mail.

Happy wandering

Fred

Some travel decisions feel ok at the time but are not practical in reality.

We only get mail delivered 3 days a week too - and this is on the Sunshine Coast with a population of over 280,000 people ! We also have a PO Box and that is where most of our mail goes to.

We don't do Valentine's Day, a couple of unfortunate memories of 14th Feb events, including the rather untimely and sudden death of FIL back in 1996. Besides that I don't think it's particularly relevant.

We're going out to dinner; it's a good excuse to go to a restaurant that we've been meaning to visit for a while.

Valentines Day is nice if you are in a relationship.

It's a bit depressing if you aren't.

Now for me, who is single in a foreign city, it just means all the restaurants will be much louder than normal for a Tuesday evening meal.

I've heard Tinder or Grindr is good in these circumstances.:)

I've heard that also, but aren't they age restricted to under 30s?

LOL, I'm quite happy with the bartender tonight. Or more correctly I will be when I finish work and arrive at the bar.

Don't get me started on Australia Post - they have just renewed our annual contract, and through "enhancements" have seen a price rise of 20-40% for all our customers on what we sent. Account manager was not really helpful in explaining such a rise.

we don't either - I mean at our age it would be more than a little silly! However every now and then Mr FM has a rush of blood to the head and buys me something :)

Was there a blackout in Brisbane around the city in the past 4 days? The microwave is showing 7:54pm which suggests a reset somewhere along the way.

Went to see a film last night. First time in ages. La La Land. Was quite good, but not sure it stuck the landing. Throwback to the good old fashioned musical. Definitely recommend it.

This could have very awkward.

MrP packing small carry on for flight to MEL first thing this am. And at 5am phone alarm didn't go off. Panic. Where is the phone needed for phone conferences/contact in MEL - Calls going straight through to voicemail = flat battery I said. Great. How can we locate it.

So suitcase was unpacked to find lost phone. As I was working through case something buzzed. Yay. Phone. Nope. Located said buzzing object after unzipping the material that covers the handle frame extension.

A fully functioning portable drill with bit attached.

Given he would have taken in through security - obviously scanned - and it was in a hidden area - ie attempt (a poor one) to conceal - I can just imagine how this would have played out at the airport.

How did it get there? We both later realised that Qantas damaged his bag before Christmas so we took it to their repair place. It was left in the case.

(Phone was located as MrP was on the verge of leaving - completely flat). I didn't get back to sleep.

That's a great story! Possibly lucky the said drill buzzed when it did.
And no, you never get back to sleep after that sort of thing.
A friend had a text message on her phone at 4am the other morning (from her bank asking her to call and when she did notifying her of $7000 hit on her credit card). Of course she didn't get back to sleep either.

Our suburb had a 500mS power outage. Triggered the UPSs but did not reset the microwave clock.

I had a couple of those verification texts a few months ago. The stupid thing was that when I rang back they can't see the transactions - just the $ amount. Given I had done the transactions in USD and they can only see an AUD $ amount, and no merchant details, I said the whole security check was a nonsense. But could only call them back....during office hours.

And then Optus starting doing the same - sending me a "you have used 50% of your data allowance for this month" - again in the early hours. Needless to say I gave them an appropriate call back - but they were only open during Office hours....
