Sounds like carp agent :(

Sounds like a normal Agent. We had a friend pop in when we were selling. Admittedly there was no one else in the house inspecting when they arrived but the Agent was found having a nice little rest in one of our lounge chairs.

And a week after auction the house was broken into. They targetted specific items and could only have been from the inspection.

Sorry BC - just making sure you have all the info to keep everything safe.

I think that makes sense though as you don't remember the details. I reckon we did that :o
Photos are all on the web/brochure anyway.

I would discuss with the real estate agent what are "fixtures" and what is not. If personal property is affixed or fastened to real estate then it could potentially be a fixture (and the future buyer might have been checking it out as they think it might be theirs). When I purchased my house the owners had removed the dryer from the wall and had it sitting on the floor and the real estate agent was very direct in advising that it was not being sold with the house. On the other hand a wooden cabinet that was built for a certain spot in my home I negotiated to keep from the seller as it was built to fit that space but was not affixed or fastened to the building.

I ran the agent through a number of items that were not to be included in the sale, including a light fitting in our room, as it is mine and not owned by the vendor and even particular plants in the garden. Whether this is being passed on or not is a mystery. The dryer is hanging on the wall but that doesnt mean we wont be unhooking it and taking it. The laundry is too small to have it on the floor anyway. Its like expecting the fridge to stay because it fits perfectly inside the kitchen space.

Valuables have all been removed to mums place so nothing much left to steal unless you want an ancient TV or a sewing machine.

I have heard of this targeting that has been the result of for sale photos posted on the web as distinct from people seeing the articles while they were at an open house. One agency in our area requires you to provide photo ID to be able to attend an open house-I don't really see anything being achieved by such a stance.

Maybe it scares off the randoms? Pretty sure the Agent won't pass on the details to the police should anything happen. They are theoretically prospective buyers.

These guys went for all the entertainment and computer stuff. The computer drive was under a shelf sort of out of sight. They left other stuff but went to specific rooms. And my 'specials' drawer that got dumped on the bed and inherited jewellery taken. I didn't know they had looked in the drawer and was calling the insurance people at the time as MrP was interstate and needed to get door secure. For some reason I pulled back the quilt and there was the rest of the contents of my drawer. That was the bit that made me cry - up until then I was just angry. Poor insurance lady had to deal with me.

Ours is asking for names and numbers, though I did hear him say to one "oh dont worry, Ill get your details later" Hence me trying to be visible during inspections.

House inspection while we were at work yesterday. Someone decided to poke around in the clothes dryer which I find utterly confusing given its an appliance that isnt part of the house....

Another example of where the agent has failed. Given the clothes dryer is attached to the wall it is not unreasonable to assume it would be a fixture. Same with the light fitting.

There should be signs on these items clearly advising they are not part of the sale. They should also be clearly listed in the contract that potential buyers read to advise them of what is and isn't included.

There may be delays in settlement should there be any confusion when they aren't present at the final inspection.

I found out that there is a DFO styled outlet opposite the Grand Ole Opry... and they have Kate Spade and Coach.

Will be visiting, warned hubby he will be buying me a new bag :)

I dont see how mounting a dryer suddenly makes it part of the house? I mean heck, our dishwasher isnt actually attached (it rolls out of the space quite regularly), does that mean I get to take it?
Again, agent has been told of all non-inclusions. Plus as tenants, I am not the vendor, but I will take all my belongings with me, including the dryer.

Wife wants to buy new handbag. I gave her the money and she can buy the handbag. I don't want to be involved in the selection process.

I am being to mean?

Pretty sure she's pleased with that deal ;)

Queen Mary 2 in Adelaide today. A nice sunny 28 degrees makes for great shore excursions into Cleland or Barossa Valley. It's normally like a furnace in Adelaide in February. I'm thinking of popping down to Semaphore for a long distance look and photo to check out the power of my super zoom.

Norwegian star left Melbourne yesterday. Had to do a lap of Port Phillip Bay for testing before leaving.

If it was a good agent things that are not included in the sale would have been listed in the brochure which is handed out at the open house (e.g. please note, the wall mounted clothes dryer, bedroom light fitting and several garden plants are not included in the sale. Please discuss these with the agent if you have any questions).

We're in furious agreement. But the potential purchaser may believe that because the dryer is fixed to the wall it is part of the sale. The light fitting they would reasonably believe it is a fixture unless advised otherwise by the agent.

This is why the agent needs to be proactive to avoid any confusion and grief to all parties.

Going to run through it all again with the agent this weekend, but will start removing some items to "avoid confusion".

So that makes you both happy doesn't it  - he can sit outside by himself or with other similar-minded men and not have to think about being dragged through a shopping expedition (and you don't have to have him whinging in the shops about the time it takes to look at countless bags, discuss benefits/detractions and finally select bag). He then comes in for the important part of the transaction (paying for said purchase). You get what you want (time spent shopping and buying a bag), he gets to sit outside adn while away the time...

Happy wife, happy life...

Woe betide if you fail to buy one :o

I dont understand how women shop with their husbands. Once I made hubby sit in the car while I went to Spotlight... and he eventually texted me, "Are you ever coming out?"

Im a solo shopper. Even grocery stores, I leave him at home. For my once a year handbag purchase, we go to DFO or similar, he sits outside, I find, I call him, he buys, happy birthday to me.

I will be happy to wander around Spotlight etc, as I'm sure I can find something to attract my attention...but if the kids are with us, sometimes they'd rather stay in the car so I have to as well [and Mrs QF WP is happy about that as well ;)].

Same could be said for my wanderings through a sports (say golf) store...she'd rather find something else to do, whatever it is...
