Just checked in at Siem Reap to fly Silkair to Singapore. We were asked if Singapore was our final destination, explained we were going to Oz tonight on Qantas, and our bags were checked through to Brisbane, how good is that. Very happy. :)
We were quite surprised checking in at CPT with BA.Bags checked through to EBB when next flight was SAA.

PS. Even more surprised when they all appeared at EBB!

I was at Twickenham for the Aus v Scotland game during the World Cup that we narrowly won. I was surrounded by Scots. It was fun.

Oh, may not have been as much fun as when I went to Aust vs All Blacks at Dunedin - the (old) House of Pain, in 2001 with some mates. Ten fools dressed from wig to toe in Green and Gold, surrounded by a sea of Black. There was the usual couch burned at half time.

Australia won! First team to beat the Blacks at Carisbrook.

The Kiwi fans took it remarkably well - or probably, they were in shock. We joined the traditional celebrations around the corner in the big tent, and built our Wall, with a lot of Kiwis strangely wanting to buy us a beer.

After that, I don't remember ...

If it ever gets delayed, at least the bag description will help locate it quicker than "it's black".

Trouble is, they don't take any notice of 'unique' or stand-out features. Usually you have to pick from pictures of 'standard' shapes and colours, bag tag # etc. They might note down "its got bright pink tape wrapped around it" but I doubt that translates into the search system.

... or that was my experience with QF, having arrived in MEL from LAX, a few years ago.

AA have decided to ruin today's anniversary and plans I had to be in MIA for the day, instead have been rerouted in whY on WS (yep, not even a OW carrier - but it was the only flight available out of NAS today; the original reschedule was a day later and was still in whY anyway) to YYZ and then from there to YVR on AC. Chances of bags being checked through? Probably pretty slim. Chances of a grumpy Mrs Flashback given the day's plans have been ruined? Possibly high. Don't need to tell you the chances of a grumpy me, I'd say that's pretty clear after having spent up to 6 hours on the phone trying to get even this.

It wasn't even possible until a friend called the EXP help desk and got them to come up with the above options.

Bit of a rubbish end to what has been an unsatisfying/unrelaxing trip.

At least NAS is a short flight to MIA.

Looking at a 1h10 connection in HKG on different PNRs/airlines. Alternative is 4h25, but the flow on means an extra day travelling. Decisions, decisions.

Is it just my mum, or is broccoli a cheap vegetable?

We habitually have it with almost every meal which doesn't involve a salad.

I think broccoli is a fairly highly rated vegetable that has been used by the last several generations to avoid the problems that sailors experienced from lack of eating greens on long voyages. Salted meat and nothing much else didn't help.
Was your mum keen on cod liver oil for you too?

I just have to say it.....I won't eat brocolli no matter how it is cooked!! The only other vege I hate more is brussel sprouts.

Ixnay to Brussel sprouts ...

After a couple of hours in a slow cooker what's left in recognizable form of broccoli?

I only eat broccoli because my mother said it is good for you. The taste is quite ordinary and Brussels sprouts are not a favourite.

I'm not a broccoli hater, and will eat it readily enough. Preferably in some sort of cheesey concoction.

Never brussels sprouts. Not ever.
