The boss says she saw two westerners begging in Luang Prabang near the night market. Next they'll be getting a dog to sit with them so we can all feel sorry for the dog. Cynical, me?

The link posted above also pointed to this person that seems to have become a bit of a figure of ridicule.

I guess for some sponging off others is a "smart" thing to do.

Why do people buy and drink evian? To me it tastes very ordinary, I'd rather have Adelaide tap water. :)

I'd rather have Adelaide tap water - seriously are you bonkers :)- it is disgusting

Enjoy - if you do want to drive at night just be prepared for a slow drive. Depending on where you are then dusk is quite hairy.

Have you planned where to stay. Although KI prides itself on good food you may find it difficult to get good food at many of the restaurants unless you're in the Southern Ocean Lodge (which is on my bucket list)

If you need any info let me now

Thanks!

I'm thinking of one-night at one of the lighthouse cottages, then two nights near the remarkables/West Coast, one night near seal Bay and another closer to Kingscote/port. Still looking into it but planning hit woollies before we hit the island for just in case noodles for dinner.

Was also telling hubby, no driving after dark.

He wants to take milky way photos so happy to just go for a walk nearby.

It's not that far from Seal Bay to Remarkables so you could just stay in the same place - assume you're flying rather than driving - if you're flying you'll fly into Kingscote but if you drive you'll come into Penneshaw. I've heard that there are much better restaurants at Penneshaw - not much at Kingscote. Don't overlook the north coast as well around Stokes Bay

I think I've said this before, when we moved from Adelaide to Canberra in 1959, Mum couldn't get us out of the bath, soap bubbles were a new thing for us.

Actually I have to agree with you, Adelaide tap water is pretty rank!!

One theory by water purifier Company. The Adelaide water and pretty much of SA water is heavily chlorinated and by the time it gets to the tap the chlorine binds to solids in the water and you end up with chloramines. Apparently it travels long distances as SA population is fairly spread out?

Rugby: Aust V Scotland, June 17th

Never been to a Scotland game so might have to go, considering we're going to Scotland last year.

And Ive done so many walk of shames at an All Black game... will be nice to actually have a chance in seeing a winning Wallabies team :)

I was at Twickenham for the Aus v Scotland game during the World Cup that we narrowly won. I was surrounded by Scots. It was fun.

A nephew and his lovely wife were blessed with twin baby girls recently - both ~4.5lb at birth and both ~5lb when arrived home - here they are in their new cot on their first night home:

How do people react when they know that twins (or triplets, or n-uplets) are expected?

Is it much different to a single child?

Just curious - I'm not a dad.

My sister had triplets for her 2nd, 3rd and 4th. She set about organising a small army in readiness. Then, a 5th turned up unexpectedly. I think she's learned what causes it now.

Just checked in at Siem Reap to fly Silkair to Singapore. We were asked if Singapore was our final destination, explained we were going to Oz tonight on Qantas, and our bags were checked through to Brisbane, how good is that. Very happy. :)

The 'Ette's new luggage arrived - she is tickled pink - thinks all her easters have come at once!

...

No mistaking whose luggage when they appear on the baggage belt!

Unless someone else on the same flight has the same taste. Then, it'll unfold like two ladies turning up to the dance wearing the same dress... (this drama I still cannot understand...)
