Happy to be getting my laptop back today; Toshiba came to the party as apparently its a common fault with the cable to the screen.

I had a similar issue with a Toshiba laptop back in 2001/2002, although that was a 4.5k purchase. Was in for warranty repair about 9 times for that issue (and another recurring issue too). Needless to say I've not touched Toshiba since! Good to see they're still suffering from the same issues...

Please explain?

They really make it a sport of complaining about things and getting compensation out of it. Some of the things will really make you wow!

I feel the same way about Camry cars - but from 1989.

It seems water is separately metered then, as is hot water apparently? Received two accounts for this today. Tiny compared with Adelaide rorts though.

Interesting. Nah. I just thing she was a complaining cow. Oops. Did I say that aloud? :D

Che? Water is water irrespective of the calorific content. Don't you 'make' your own hot water?

Still same amount of alcohol.
Same amount of alcohol but the theory is that it will take longer to drink each bottle and therefore less alcohol consumed during the afternoon/evening.

Of course if people keep putting drinks in front of you and you cannot say no then you're in trouble.

Two accounts. How/why?

Just to be clear the landlord pays all the costs except the actual usage which is paid by the tenant.

Haha no I meant to the head of foam in the glass.:)
I think the head is still there but maybe not the same as when you pour tap beer. Need to check next trip.

For me the taste of beer does not differ by much with ice. And I'm definitely not a connoisseur so don't really care about taste.

You will see it on the water bill. If separately metered there will be actual meter/consumption readings. Else it's a flat charge for unmetered customers that the landlord should pay.

Hot water can be separately metered in strata buildings that have a central hot water system. But this is usually converted into energy consumption and added to a utility bill (eg gas). Some stratas pay for unmetered hot water from strata funds which are paid by the landlord though strata levies.

I've always had Toshibas and this is the first time I've ever had a problem...

Tenants have it good in Aus! In the UK you pay rates and usage.
Thanks for that  info, all my rates notices have started to roll in this week, awaiting it's fourth instalment. Would gladly pass the rates notices on to my tenants if I could.
Mine get the water bill, except for 2 properties that are not separately metered. (and I am on tank water - + 1 other tenant)

Don't you bill them in weekly or monthly installments as part of the rent, along with land tax if applicable? If you don't, you still have to pay the rates and other applicable taxes and then you're reducing your yield.

I just heard that paper £5 notes and round metal £1 coins will not be legal tender in the U.K. shortly.

Haven't heard that, but there is a new 1 pound coin in circulation, same size as old one, but with multi sides( round corners). Someone was complaining that a vending machine hadn't been adjusted for them. So maybe it's the old style going out, not 1 pounds in general

Plastic fivers replacing the paper; I think the paper will just be withdrawn over time rather than declared non tender ( visions of India!!

Any AFFers want to buy my stocks of GBP?

I reckon they will be all pay pass by the time I visit next, no need for cash.

Certainly every merchant I have dealt with in the past week, from London to shops in wee towns in rural Wales have had eftpos / paywave.
