Yes, its in the main concert hall.

Thanks for the photo, it looks like being below the stage would be ok and shouldn't hinder views of the dancing etc

I just looked at the event. I wouldn't sit front row.

Firstly, music quality will be reduced as it gets projected out and not pushed down (as average as the SOH acoustics are).

I saw an orchestra - you'd only see the violins at the left and cellos/ double bass at right. I've sat a few rows back for a orchestral performance before and regretted it as my view was limited.

Dancing - you won't get full effect as you're looking up at them.

So someone else's bad luck is your good luck?
I haven't fully analysed it yet but that's how it would appear at first glance.

Of course the person could have intentionally thrown the money away as it was causing them bad luck which would mean I would inherit that bad luck?

What's first world problems? Planning your holiday around award availability... and having to maintain a decision tree in your head of incredible complexity...

A snapshot of thoughts being weighed up:
  • Spend New Year in Europe and not in Japan - don't have many friends in Japan I could crash with over New Year, and hotelling will be expensive.
  • However, if I don't get to Japan before New Year, then there's no more JL F availability and I'll have to fly BA F instead. Though, at least I can try BA CCR, since I've never done it before. It'll be B787 F though.
  • I could try for CX F from LON to TYO and then re-route the way home to account for mileage limits; that might have availability after New Year. If there's none out of LON then there will likely be F availability from another Euro centre, although that means no superior lounge at LHR to enjoy. Also, CX F was fairly average the last time I flew them, though I did like their lounge in HKG. Still, CX F on an average day might be better than BA F on most days.
  • Then again, is it a good idea to visit Japan just after New Year? A lot of things just might be closed, although I guess I could check out more rural parts or towns rather than the big metropolises. But attractions or shops there might well be closed after New Year, too. So, maybe ditch Japan, spend more time in Europe then head straight home via HKG? Maybe spend a little time in HKG on the way home?

Well, BA F is the world's best J ;)

Well, BA F is the world's best J ;)

Really now? :) You know, some will affably claim here there are J products (either overall or on good days) that are better than some F products.

Anyway, that doesn't help :p

Also, to add on top of all of this, I'm finding that different airlines seem to view availability with different degrees of flakiness or "phantom-ness", but I guess for most of us this is not really any surprise.

Year of birth is a monkey for me. Kinda works.

Edit. I was suppose to quote John's earlier post about finding money but fat fingers on phone, early morning doesn't work.

I found $10 in front of my Coles a while back.

Fearing it was a Current Affair sting, I quickly donated it to the nearby Salvos.

Thanks Milboo, I will select seats further back

:D.
I reckon as long as you don't see someone drop it or see someone looking frantically around then it's finders keepers with a clear conscience.

I feel for this woman because she made a really dumb decision but part of her defense was she didnt open the packets (headphones).

Looking at the packets, they are all different sizes/shapes. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Her headphone defense sucks and her lying/family changing the story often isnt helping. Shes lucky shes not in Bali because her sister publicly saying the government is corrupt would blow up in her face if she was busted in Indonesia.

I was at a car show a couple of months ago and found a $10 note, asked people nearby if anyone had dropped any money, no one claimed it so I gave it to a stall collecting for a charity.

I forgot to get a receipt so that I could claim it back on this years tax return. :)

On a side note, last year in the UK some people I spoke to didn't like the new polymer 5 pound note, one of the main reasons was that they were too slippery and much easier to lose/drop unnoticed.

When my father in law died last year, husbands workplace did a collection instead of flowers and gave it to my husband to donate to a charity, which he did. Made sure he got the receipt in his name though. My dad in law would have been proud :)

Is anyone here familiar with the SYD opera house seating? I have never been to anything there and would love some advice on where to select seats

The show I am going to (Scotland the Brave) has a stage extension - so row D will be the first row. The seats up front have a note that they are restricted and below stage level. The platform boxes are sold out. I can get front row of the circle or the middle of the stalls...

OK not the Opera House I know but as a comparison we sat row 1 (centre) at the Princess Theatre for Phantom of the Opera.

WE decided we couldn't ever see the show again as nothing would compare to that experience. We heard the audio without amplification, clearly saw the the actors and their make up. We had a good view of the orchestra and even had a chat with the conductor. Based on that I would certainly do that again.

I've lost count of the number of times I've lost money from pocket/wallet. Finding coins/notes on street is just some of it finding its way back.
