One of the few words I recognise there is, "American".

And you should be very happy about that (as I am).:)

A lot of pedestrians just mown down in Times Square a few blocks from where I was walking. The police got the driver who is known to them, but terrorism is not suspected as he had been arrested for driving under the influence previously. Apparently, there are 'some' dead.

The activity and sirens on the street is even noisier than normal. Normallity here is hard to tell from an emergency as emergency vehicles always have their sirens on trying to get through the constant traffic gridlock. Being TS it's surprisingly there were not not more people injured.

The Oxford dictionary definition of famous is "known about by many people". In a celebrity obsessed America the Model of the year 2016 meets that criteria. What JohnK thinks or knows about her nor whether he agrees with that fame is not part of the Oxford definition.
Thanks. That means I'm also famous as I'm known by many people.

This is Mary, Mary has rung every member of her family to let them know that she's off to America (again) for three weeks, and that she got one of those travel passes again so she can still ring everyone.

Don't be a Mary

Is Mary in J? I hope she gets a free upgrade, then she'll have to phone everyone again!

If my husband kept a diary.

Dear Preparing for Retirement Diary.

Today I had to buy laundry detergent. My wife specifically stated, 1 box of Omo or Cold Power, Top Loader only in powder, whichever is on sale/cheapest.

But first, I need to phone her as Ive never been down this aisle before and need assistance in finding the aisle.

Whew, found the correct aisle but is it the correct, correct aisle. Like theyre hiding the proper detergent aisle and this the other detergent aisle. Only took a second phone call. Im awesome.

But wait, so many colours, so many bottles and box shapes and whats a detergent capsule? And there is cheaper detergent. Does she know about this? I need to phone her to tell her what I have found!

Hmmm. She didnt seem too impressed by my telling her that she can get capsules and bottles and cheaper product. She wants Omo or Cold Powder Top Loader.

But Im buying family laundry detergent on my own so I still think Im awesome!

Hmmm. Found the Omo. 1kg, 2kg or 5kg. Going to have to phone her.

OK. 4th Phone call done. She asked if any was on special and how much per KG they were, usually the 5kgs box is on sale and lasts about 6 months.

So I bought 4 boxes of 5kg Omo. Because Im awesome! Loving this retirement, Im saving money now! Cant wait till Costco opens up nearby because I can buy ten years worth!

OK. Bought the laundry detergent, paid for it and now to phone my wife to tell her Im walking it to the car. Im awesome!

OK. Got home, got the laundry detergent into the house but dont know where to put it - I will phone my wife and ask.

Why isnt my wife answering my calls. What am I suppose to do with 20kgs of detergent now?

Oh good, she answered my 18th call - I dont think the detergent will fit where my wife told me to stick it.

And you'll post her conversation when she does.

It annoys me when - (maybe a sexist or older generational specific post as I don't think this will happen for the current fifty somethings and younger) a male has obviously recently retired and he and his wife go grocery shopping. I assume she has done this successfully for years. But now HE is involved and everything she does is questioned. I think I would slap him  MrP will be banned from grocery shopping but I think he would only buy the fun stuff anyway and forget the milk, bread, eggs etc.

I do not grocery shop with my husband.

I cant even have him sitting somewhere, waiting for me.

I have dropped him off at Hubby Day Care for a (legitimate) massage and picked him up afterwards. So I can shop in peace.

My husband found the Darrell Lea factory shop yesterday.... came home with 1kg of BB balls (large jaffers) & other assorted chocolates. Sent me a picture of the shopping bag. I will let him out to shop alone again.

My husband is now banned from the Lindt factory outlet unless he has supervision.

Last time he loaded up his car and lead the car pool from the office - there was about a dozen people.
