This is Mary, Mary has rung every member of her family to let them know that she's off to America (again) for three weeks, and that she got one of those travel passes again so she can still ring everyone.

Don't be a Mary

Shouldn't that be in the "I'm in the lounge" type thread??:lol:

Self drive cars are almost certainly going to take off(pun intended) but self fly planes are going to be a bit harder to convince the flying public to accept.

All it takes is one idiot to drive negligently and driverless vehicles may not be able to respond as quickly as a human.

Possibly for the same reason as "sble" landed amongst us :) (in post #63066 before amendment ;) )

So one of the rules of leasing the apartment in MEL is that if you set off the fire alarm in the unit due to cooking then opening the main door will trigger the general alarm and the fire brigade will arrive and we will be billed from memory $800 for the call out. So the rule is don't open the main door to the lobby.

Cooking our first meal here and fire alarm inside goes off. We open the balcony door and eventually it stops. A minute later we hear fire brigade coming closer and closer...... we are still waiting in trepidation :o

Interesting charges on Gocard today.

Touched on at Toowong and touched off at Milton. Charged $1.28. Then 30 minutes later touched on again at Milton and acknowledged as touch on transfer. Touched off at Domestic airport and was charged $21.20 which is full cost of trip not taking into consideration the $1.28 I had already paid.

I had free travel until Eagle Junction as I was transferring within the last hour. Eagle Junction to Domestic is only $18 even cheaper if purchased online.

Being the cheapskate that I am, I will be chasing up refund and I won't be doing that again. Long way for $1.90 thank you very much.

oops - I hope there was no building fire alarm near the balcony but hopefully the fire engine was just a coincidence.

That reminds me, could just about see your place as I went along the SE Freeway on the coach back from mother's. I looked. Sitting in lounge waiting for flight now.

Does anyone find they are wasting more food when at a cafe/restaurant? When did food serves ever get so huge? Had a croque monsieur at a French cafe today and could only eat half.
this is why everyone is getting overweight - portion sizes are just getting bigger. Mr FM and I are now doing what we used to do in the USA - sharing portions...

And you'll post her conversation when she does.

It annoys me when - (maybe a sexist or older generational specific post as I don't think this will happen for the current fifty somethings and younger) a male has obviously recently retired and he and his wife go grocery shopping. I assume she has done this successfully for years. But now HE is involved and everything she does is questioned. I think I would slap him  MrP will be banned from grocery shopping but I think he would only buy the fun stuff anyway and forget the milk, bread, eggs etc.
must be 30 years since I did the grocery shopping - I just give Mr FM a list of anything special I want and he does the rest. When we started shopping at farmers' markets I used to go with him, but he then decided he had to go at 8am to get the best produce, so now I stay in bed and he does that on his own as well.

TOT, just flew MEL - CBR in J and was pleasantly surprised that the camp cutlery seems to have been improved upon (as opposed to enhanced shall I say). Although still useless to cut with the knife was much more aesthetically pleasing and looked more like a regular knife. Maybe I don't get out enough :)

Do you think the PE boys will improve it?

If they want to make money, they will (or should!). Also cut-off the relationship with the ABC. Why would you co-operate with an organisation that gives away for free the same stuff as you are selling?
