Recent positive experience with Apple:
Kids 3 year old MacBook had a cracked screen. Went to local Apple Store Genius Bar without an appointment. Told approx 3 hour wait. Went to YumCha got an SMS 1 hour later a Genius Bar time which was 20min later Went to Genius Bar. At the appointed time an Apple consultant came to me and said "are you QS". How did they know who I am in the midst of about 20 people waiting at the GB Desk is a bit creepy.
Told them the problem, did a diagnostic, said yes screen cracked at the LCD level (surface glass not cracked). $760 to replace. No problems. Handed over laptop. Got email notification re work authorisation. Said will take up to 3 days.
Got an email this morning at 0800 to say laptop ready to be picked up. Turn around time 18 hours or so
None of this retailer have to send away to repair agent and get back to you in 2 weeks or more palava

I thought we would be moving on from the Schapelle era now we got to put up with Cocaine Cassie. Luckily I have turned off Channel 0,2,7,9,10. Now just on Netflix and new from non traditional sources.
