The totally off-topic thread

That would be a corruption of the taste and aroma.
i can differentiate between 4 types so can usually tell when proprietor is trying to substitute a cheaper species.

When I eat durian at all you can eat places, I inspect what I am offered by vendor and reject unsuitable just like wine.

Normally eat about 3 durians in one sitting (ok once I pigged out with 5) - always different types with the most expensive last. Won't pay anymore than RM$70 per kilo

I used to eat potted tongue. I knew it was called tongue but thought that was just a name. I asked mum what it actually was and she said - tongue. Never ate it again.

Asides that, then I'm figuring you're not a friend of Lambs Fry either...( fried lambs liver to be accurate.)

If the taste overall is too much, try black pudding fried and then crumbed through mashed potato...
Lambs fry, beef hearts, chicken giblets, tongue, stomach, intestines. All lovely.

Not sure about black pudding.

Obviously this is the off topic thread and there is also a what I ate today food thread. But obviously the food posts here don't meet the refinement usually posted on the other thread.

Just turning in for an early start tomorrow,...

...But was wondering?.... Have you tried The Ducks Nuts?

;-)

(actually a little bar in DRW...they do a nice coughtail range.....couldn't resist the phrase under the circumstances ;-))
Good evening Sir JK

There is always Mountain Oysters in NZ...I've never felt inclined to go to the Wild Foods Festival there.

We we used to get fed kidneys and bacon as kids - done stove top in a kind of gravy. I can still remember seeing kidney pieces jumping out of the pan. Will not touch them now - I'm generally anti offal.

Nope,
nope,
agree :)

My mother used to try and trick us by telling us lamb's fry was steak. My sister fell for it but not me!

While we are on yucky food, does anyone remember brawn. Mum used to boil sheep's heads then pick the meat to make brawn set with jelly....not a fan!

I have seen pig heads consumed at the front table of a wedding. Considered a delicacy by some.

In a private hospital in SYD many years ago was fed lambs brains for lunch and I was very hungry after not being able to eat for quite some time previously. They were delish, but I didn't make a habit of it and never had them again.

Looks nice, where is it in Wales? It's also warm in Berlin, although I think Doha tomorrow will be a tad warmer. :(

The place looks familiar. Is it near the old Holiday Inns or what is now Doubletree? Very busy place.

Define important young'un ? But before you do ponder these - Wynns Harold @47 / WB Black Label @59 / Wynns Michael at @87 - get back to me when you can kiddo.

It happened again.

Tempted.
